And he went out to meet Asa, and said unto him, Hear ye me, Asa, and all Judah and Benjamin; The LORD [is] with you, while ye be with him; and if ye seek him, he will be found of you; but if ye forsake him, he will forsake you.
En hy het uitgegaan om Asa tegemoet te gaan, en tot hom gesê, Hoor my, Asa, en die hele Juda en Benjamin; Die HERE is met julle, terwyl julle met Hom is; en as julle Hom soek, sal Hy deur julle gevind word; maar as julle Hom verlaat, sal Hy julle verlaat.

Now for a long season Israel [hath been] without the true God, and without a teaching priest, and without law.
Nou vir ‚'n lang seisoen was Israel sonder die ware God, en sonder ‚'n onderrigende priester, en sonder wet.

But when they in their trouble did turn unto the LORD God of Israel, and sought him, he was found of them.
Maar toe hulle in hulle benoudheid tot die HERE, die God van Israel, teruggekeer het, en Hom gesoek het, is Hy deur hulle gevind.

And in those times [there was] no peace to him that went out, nor to him that came in, but great vexations [were] upon all the inhabitants of the countries.
En in daardie tye was daar geen vrede vir hom wat uitgegaan het, of vir hom wat ingekom het nie, maar groot verontrustings was op al die inwoners van die lande.

And nation was destroyed of nation, and city of city: for God did vex them with all adversity.
En nasie is vernietig van nasie, en stad van stad: want God het hulle met alle soorte teëspoed verontrus.

Be ye strong therefore, and let not your hands be weak: for your work shall be rewarded.
Wees julle daarom sterk, en laat julle hande nie slap word nie: want julle werk sal beloon word.

And when Asa heard these words, and the prophecy of Oded the prophet, he took courage, and put away the abominable idols out of all the land of Judah and Benjamin, and out of the cities which he had taken from mount Ephraim, and renewed the altar of the LORD, that [was] before the porch of the LORD.
En toe Asa hierdie woorde gehoor het, en die profesie van Oded die profeet, het hy moed gevat, en die gruwels uit die hele land van Juda en Benjamin, en uit die stede wat hy van die berg Efraim geneem het, weggedoen, en die altaar van die HERE hernuwe, wat voor die voorhuis van die HERE was.

And he gathered all Judah and Benjamin, and the strangers with them out of Ephraim and Manasseh, and out of Simeon: for they fell to him out of Israel in abundance, when they saw that the LORD his God [was] with him.
En hy het die hele Juda en Benjamin bymekaargemaak, en die vreemdelinge by hulle uit Efraim en Manasse, en uit Simeon: want hulle het in menigte by hom oorgegaan uit Israel, toe hulle gesien het dat die HERE sy God met hom was.

So they gathered themselves together at Jerusalem in the third month, in the fifteenth year of the reign of Asa.
So het hulle dan by Jérusalem bymekaargekom in die derde maand, in die vyftiende jaar van die regering van Asa.

And they offered unto the LORD the same time, of the spoil [which] they had brought, seven hundred oxen and seven thousand sheep.
En hulle het aan die HERE dieselfde tyd geoffer van die prooi wat hulle gebring het, sewehonderd osse en sewenduisend skape.

And they entered into a covenant to seek the LORD God of their fathers with all their heart and with all their soul;
En hulle het die verbond aangegaan om die HERE, die God van hulle vaders, met hulle hele hart en met hulle hele siel te soek;
13
That whosoever would not seek the LORD God of Israel should be put to death, whether small or great, whether man or woman.
Dat elkeen wat nie die HERE, die God van Israel, sou soek nie, gedood sou word, of klein of groot, of man of vrou.

And they sware unto the LORD with a loud voice, and with shouting, and with trumpets, and with cornets.
En hulle het aan die HERE gesweer met ‚'n groot stem, en met geskreeu, en met trompette, en met kornette.
15
And all Judah rejoiced at the oath: for they had sworn with all their heart, and sought him with their whole desire; and he was found of them: and the LORD gave them rest round about.
En die hele Juda was vrolik by die eed: want hulle het met hulle hele hart gesweer, en Hom met hulle hele begeerte gesoek; en Hy is deur hulle gevind: en die HERE het hulle rus aan alle kante gegee.

And also [concerning] Maachah the mother of Asa the king, he removed her from [being] queen, because she had made an idol in a grove: and Asa cut down her idol, and stamped [it], and burnt [it] at the brook Kidron.
En ook aangaande Maäga die moeder van Asa die koning, hy het haar van die posisie van koningin-moeder verwyder, omdat sy ’n afskuwelike beeld in ’n bos gemaak het: en Asa het haar afskuwelike beeld afgekap, en dit verbrysel, en by die spruit Kidron verbrand.

But the high places were not taken away out of Israel: nevertheless the heart of Asa was perfect all his days.
Maar die hoogtes is nie uit Israel weggedoen nie: nogtans was die hart van Asa volkome al sy dae.

And he brought into the house of God the things that his father had dedicated, and that he himself had dedicated, silver, and gold, and vessels.
En hy het die dinge wat sy vader geheilig het, en die dinge wat hy self geheilig het, in die huis van God gebring, silwer, en goud, en vate.
19
And there was no [more] war unto the five and thirtieth year of the reign of Asa.
En daar was geen meer oorlog tot die vyf en dertigste jaar van die regering van Asa nie.
