And Solomon determined to build an house for the name of the LORD, and an house for his kingdom.
En Salomo het bepaal om ‚'n huis tot die Naam van die HERE te bou, en ‚'n huis vir sy koninkryk.

And Solomon told out threescore and ten thousand men to bear burdens, and fourscore thousand to hew in the mountain, and three thousand and six hundred to oversee them.
En Salomo het sewentig duisend manne getel om laste te dra, en tagtig duisend om in die berg te kap, en drieduisend en seshonderd om oor hulle toesig te hou.

And Solomon sent to Huram the king of Tyre, saying, As thou didst deal with David my father, and didst send him cedars to build him an house to dwell therein, [even so deal with me].
En Salomo het na Huram die koning van Tirus gestuur, en gesê, Soos jy met Dawid my vader gehandel het, en vir hom seders gestuur het om vir hom ’n huis te bou om in te woon, selfs so handel met my.

Behold, I build an house to the name of the LORD my God, to dedicate [it] to him, [and] to burn before him sweet incense, and for the continual shewbread, and for the burnt offerings morning and evening, on the sabbaths, and on the new moons, and on the solemn feasts of the LORD our God. This [is an ordinance] for ever to Israel.
Kyk, ek bou ’n huis tot die Naam van die HERE my God, om dit aan Hom te heilig, en om voor Hom reukwerk van soet speserye te brand, en vir die voortdurende toonbrood, en vir die brandoffers môre en aand, op die sabbatte, en op die nuwemanen, en op die feestye van die HERE onse God. Dit is ’n verpligting op Israel vir ewig.

And the house which I build [is] great: for great [is] our God above all gods.
En die huis wat ek bou, is groot: want groot is onse God bo al die gode.

But who is able to build him an house, seeing the heaven and heaven of heavens cannot contain him? who [am] I then, that I should build him an house, save only to burn sacrifice before him?
Maar wie is in staat om vir Hom ‚'n huis te bou, aangesien die hemele en die hemel van die hemele Hom nie kan bevat nie? wie is ek dan, dat ek vir Hom ‚'n huis sou bou, behalwe net om voor Hom reukwerk te brand?

Send me now therefore a man cunning to work in gold, and in silver, and in brass, and in iron, and in purple, and crimson, and blue, and that can skill to grave with the cunning men that [are] with me in Judah and in Jerusalem, whom David my father did provide.
Stuur my nou daarom ’n man wat vaardig is om in goud, en in silwer, en in koper, en in yster, en in purper, en karmosyn, en blou te werk, en wat weet om te graveer met die vaardige manne wat by my in Juda en in Jérusalem is, wat Dawid my vader berei het.

Send me also cedar trees, fir trees, and algum trees, out of Lebanon: for I know that thy servants can skill to cut timber in Lebanon; and, behold, my servants [shall be] with thy servants,
Stuur my ook sederbome, dennebome, en almuggimhout uit die Líbanon: want ek weet dat jou dienaars weet om hout in die Líbanon te kap; en kyk, my dienaars sal by jou dienaars wees,

Even to prepare me timber in abundance: for the house which I am about to build [shall be] wonderful great.
Selfs om vir my hout in menigte te berei: want die huis wat ek gaan bou, sal wonderlik groot wees.

And, behold, I will give to thy servants, the hewers that cut timber, twenty thousand measures of beaten wheat, and twenty thousand measures of barley, and twenty thousand baths of wine, and twenty thousand baths of oil.
En kyk, ek sal aan jou dienaars, die houtkappers wat die hout kap, twintig duisend kor geslaande koring, en twintig duisend kor gars, en twintig duisend bat wyn, en twintig duisend bat olie gee.

Then Huram the king of Tyre answered in writing, which he sent to Solomon, Because the LORD hath loved his people, he hath made thee king over them.
Toe het Huram die koning van Tirus geantwoord in skrif, wat hy aan Salomo gestuur het, Omdat die HERE sy volk liefhet, het Hy jou as koning oor hulle gemaak.

Huram said moreover, Blessed [be] the LORD God of Israel, that made heaven and earth, who hath given to David the king a wise son, endued with prudence and understanding, that might build an house for the LORD, and an house for his kingdom.
Huram het verder gesê, Geseënd is die HERE, die God van Israel, wat die hemel en die aarde gemaak het, wat aan Dawid die koning ’n wyse seun gegee het, begiftig met verstandigheid en verstand, wat ’n huis vir die HERE, en ’n huis vir sy koninkryk sal bou.

And now I have sent a cunning man, endued with understanding, of Huram my father’s,
En nou het ek ‚'n vaardige man, begiftig met verstandigheid, gestuur, van Huram my vader se,

The son of a woman of the daughters of Dan, and his father [was] a man of Tyre, skilful to work in gold, and in silver, in brass, in iron, in stone, and in timber, in purple, in blue, and in fine linen, and in crimson; also to grave any manner of graving, and to find out every device which shall be put to him, with thy cunning men, and with the cunning men of my lord David thy father.
Die seun van ‚'n vrou van die dogters van Dan, en sy vader was ‚'n man van Tirus, vaardig om in goud, en in silwer, in koper, in yster, in klip, en in hout, in purper, in blou, en in fyn linne, en in karmosyn te werk; ook om enige soorte graveerwerk te graveer, en om enige soorte toestel uit te dink wat aan hom gegee mag word, saam met jou vaardige manne, en met die vaardige manne van my heer Dawid jou vader.

Now therefore the wheat, and the barley, the oil, and the wine, which my lord hath spoken of, let him send unto his servants:
Nou dan die koring, en die gars, die olie, en die wyn, wat my heer gespreek het, laat hom dit aan sy dienaars stuur:
16
And we will cut wood out of Lebanon, as much as thou shalt need: and we will bring it to thee in floats by sea to Joppa; and thou shalt carry it up to Jerusalem.
En ons sal hout kap uit die Líbanon, soos jy nodig sal hê: en ons sal dit na jou bring in vlotte by die see na Jafo; en jy sal dit opbring na Jérusalem.

And Solomon numbered all the strangers that [were] in the land of Israel, after the numbering wherewith David his father had numbered them; and they were found an hundred and fifty thousand and three thousand and six hundred.
En Salomo het al die vreemdelinge getel wat in die land van Israel was, na die telling waarmee Dawid sy vader hulle getel het; en hulle is gevind ‚'n honderd en vyftig duisend en drieduisend en seshonderd.

And he set threescore and ten thousand of them [to be] bearers of burdens, and fourscore thousand [to be] hewers in the mountain, and three thousand and six hundred overseers to set the people a work.
En hy het van hulle sewentig duisend aangestel om laste te dra, en tagtig duisend om in die berg te kap, en drieduisend en seshonderd opsigters om die volk aan die werk te sit.
