Then all the people of Judah took Uzziah, who [was] sixteen years old, and made him king in the room of his father Amaziah.
Toe het die hele volk van Juda Ussía geneem, wat sestien jaar oud was, en hom as koning gemaak in die plek van sy vader Amásia.

He built Eloth, and restored it to Judah, after that the king slept with his fathers.
Hy het Elot gebou, en dit aan Juda herstel, nadat die koning by sy vaders ontslaap het.
3
Sixteen years old [was] Uzziah when he began to reign, and he reigned fifty and two years in Jerusalem. His mother’s name also [was] Jecoliah of Jerusalem.
Sestien jaar oud was Ussía toe hy begin regeer het, en hy het twee en vyftig jaar lank in Jérusalem geregeer. Sy moeder se naam was ook Jegolja van Jérusalem.

And he did [that which was] right in the sight of the LORD, according to all that his father Amaziah did.
En hy het gedoen wat reg was in die oë van die HERE, volgens alles wat sy vader Amásia gedoen het.

And he sought God in the days of Zechariah, who had understanding in the visions of God: and as long as he sought the LORD, God made him to prosper.
En hy het God gesoek in die dae van Sagarja, wat verstand gehad het in die visioene van God: en solank as hy die HERE gesoek het, het God hom laat voorspoedig wees.

And he went forth and warred against the Philistines, and brake down the wall of Gath, and the wall of Jabneh, and the wall of Ashdod, and built cities about Ashdod, and among the Philistines.
En hy het uitgegaan en teen die Filistyne geveg, en die muur van Gat, en die muur van Jabne, en die muur van Asdod, afgebreek, en stede in die land van Asdod, en onder die Filistyne, gebou.

And God helped him against the Philistines, and against the Arabians that dwelt in Gurbaal, and the Mehunims.
En God het hom gehelp teen die Filistyne, en teen die Arabiere wat in Gur-Baäl gewoon het, en die Meüniëte.

And the Ammonites gave gifts to Uzziah: and his name spread abroad [even] to the entering in of Egypt; for he strengthened [himself] exceedingly.
En die Ammoniete het geskenke aan Ussía gegee: en sy naam het tot by die ingang van Egipte versprei; want hy het buitengewoon sterk geword.

Moreover Uzziah built towers in Jerusalem at the corner gate, and at the valley gate, and at the turning [of the wall], and fortified them.
Bowendien het Ussía torings in Jérusalem by die hoekpoort, en by die dalpoort, en by die draaiing van die muur, gebou, en hulle versterk.

Also he built towers in the desert, and digged many wells: for he had much cattle, both in the low country, and in the plains: husbandmen [also], and vine dressers in the mountains, and in Carmel: for he loved husbandry.
Ook het hy torings in die woestyn gebou, en baie putte uitgegrawe: want hy het baie vee gehad, beide in die laagtes, en in die vlaktes: landbouers ook, en wingerdbouers in die berge, en in Karmel: want hy het van landbou gehou.

Moreover Uzziah had an host of fighting men, that went out to war by bands, according to the number of their account by the hand of Jeiel the scribe and Maaseiah the ruler, under the hand of Hananiah, [one] of the king’s captains.
Bowendien het Ussía ’n leër van vegtende manne gehad, wat uitgegaan het tot die oorlog by troepe, volgens die getal van hulle rekening deur die hand van Jeïël die skrywer en Maäseja die amptenaar, onder die hand van Hananja, een van die koning se kapteins.

The whole number of the chief of the fathers of the mighty men of valour [were] two thousand and six hundred.
Die hele getal van die hoofde van die vaders van die dapper manne van mag was tweeduisend en seshonderd.

And under their hand [was] an army, three hundred thousand and seven thousand and five hundred, that made war with mighty power, to help the king against the enemy.
En onder hulle hand was ’n leër, drieduisend en sewehonderd, wat met magtige krag oorlog kon maak, om die koning te help teen die vyand.

And Uzziah prepared for them throughout all the host shields, and spears, and helmets, and habergeons, and bows, and slings [to cast] stones.
En Ussía het vir hulle deur die hele leër skilde, en spiese, en helms, en pantsers, en boë, en slingerstene berei.

And he made in Jerusalem engines, invented by cunning men, to be on the towers and upon the bulwarks, to shoot arrows and great stones withal. And his name spread far abroad; for he was marvellously helped, till he was strong.
En hy het in Jérusalem uitvindsels gemaak, uitgevind deur vaardige manne, om op die torings en op die skanse te wees, om pyle en groot klippe daarmee te skiet. En sy naam het ver versprei; want hy is wonderlik gehelp, totdat hy sterk was.

But when he was strong, his heart was lifted up to [his] destruction: for he transgressed against the LORD his God, and went into the temple of the LORD to burn incense upon the altar of incense.
Maar toe hy sterk was, is sy hart verhef tot sy vernietiging: want hy het teen die HERE sy God oortree, en in die tempel van die HERE gegaan om op die altaar van reukwerk reukwerk te brand.

And Azariah the priest went in after him, and with him fourscore priests of the LORD, [that were] valiant men:
En Asarja die priester het agter hom ingegaan, en met hom tagtig priesters van die HERE, wat dapper manne was:

And they withstood Uzziah the king, and said unto him, [It appertaineth] not unto thee, Uzziah, to burn incense unto the LORD, but to the priests the sons of Aaron, that are consecrated to burn incense: go out of the sanctuary; for thou hast trespassed; neither [shall it be] for thine honour from the LORD God.
En hulle het teen Ussía die koning gestaan, en tot hom gesê, Dit kom jou nie toe, Ussía, om aan die HERE reukwerk te brand nie, maar aan die priesters die seuns van Aäron, wat geheilig is om reukwerk te brand: gaan uit die heiligdom uit; want jy het oortree; en dit sal nie tot jou eer wees van die HERE God nie.

Then Uzziah was wroth, and [had] a censer in his hand to burn incense: and while he was wroth with the priests, the leprosy even rose up in his forehead before the priests in the house of the LORD, from beside the incense altar.
Toe was Ussía toornig, en hy het ’n wierookvat in sy hand gehad om reukwerk te brand: en terwyl hy toornig was op die priesters, het die melaatsheid in sy voorhoof opgekom voor die priesters in die huis van die HERE, van by die altaar van reukwerk.

And Azariah the chief priest, and all the priests, looked upon him, and, behold, he [was] leprous in his forehead, and they thrust him out from thence; yea, himself hasted also to go out, because the LORD had smitten him.
En Asarja die hoëpriester, en al die priesters, het na hom gekyk, en kyk, hy was melaats in sy voorhoof, en hulle het hom daarvandaan uitgedrywe; ja, hy self het haastig uitgegaan, omdat die HERE hom getref het.

And Uzziah the king was a leper unto the day of his death, and dwelt in a several house, [being] a leper; for he was cut off from the house of the LORD: and Jotham his son [was] over the king’s house, judging the people of the land.
En koning Ussía was ’n melaatse tot die dag van sy dood, en het in ’n aparte huis as ’n melaatse gewoon; want hy is uit die huis van die HERE afgesny: en Jotam sy seun was oor die koning se huis, en het die volk van die land gerig.

Now the rest of the acts of Uzziah, first and last, did Isaiah the prophet, the son of Amoz, write.
Nou die res van die dade van Ussía, die eerste en die laaste, het Jesaja die profeet, die seun van Amos, geskrywe.

So Uzziah slept with his fathers, and they buried him with his fathers in the field of the burial which [belonged] to the kings; for they said, He [is] a leper: and Jotham his son reigned in his stead.
So het Ussía dan by sy vaders ontslaap, en hulle het hom by sy vaders in die veld van die begraafplaas wat aan die konings behoort het, begrawe; want hulle het gesê, Hy is ’n melaatse: en Jotam sy seun het in sy plek as koning geregeer.
