And the apostles and brethren that were in Judaea heard that the Gentiles had also received the word of God.

And when Peter was come up to Jerusalem, they that were of the circumcision contended with him,
En toe Petrus opgegaan het na Jérusalem, het dié van die besnydenis met hom geredeneer,

Saying, Thou wentest in to men uncircumcised, and didst eat with them.
Sê, Jy het by manne gegaan wat onbesnede is, en saam met hulle geëet.

But Peter rehearsed [the matter] from the beginning, and expounded [it] by order unto them, saying,
Maar Petrus het dit van die begin af aan hulle uiteengesit, en uiteengesit, sê,

I was in the city of Joppa praying: and in a trance I saw a vision, A certain vessel descend, as it had been a great sheet, let down from heaven by four corners; and it came even to me:
Ek was in die stad Joppe om te bid: en in ‚'n vervoering het ek ‚'n gesig gesien, ‚'n sekere vat neerdaal, soos ‚'n groot laken, wat aan vier hoeke neergelaat is uit die hemel, en dit het tot by my gekom:

Upon the which when I had fastened mine eyes, I considered, and saw fourfooted beasts of the earth, and wild beasts, and creeping things, and fowls of the air.
Waarin toe ek my oë gevestig het, ek dit onderskei het, en gesien het viervoetige diere van die aarde, en wilde diere, en kruipende diere, en voëls van die hemel.

And I heard a voice saying unto me, Arise, Peter; slay and eat.
En ek het ’n stem gehoor wat tot my sê, Staan op, Petrus; slag, en eet.

But I said, Not so, Lord: for nothing common or unclean hath at any time entered into my mouth.
Maar ek het gesê, Geensins, Here: want niks gemeens of onreins het ooit in my mond gekom nie.

But the voice answered me again from heaven, What God hath cleansed, [that] call not thou common.
Maar die stem het my weer uit die hemel geantwoord, Wat God gereinig het, noem jy nie gemeen nie.

And this was done three times: and all were drawn up again into heaven.
En dit is drie maal gebeur: en alles is weer in die hemel opgetrek.

And, behold, immediately there were three men already come unto the house where I was, sent from Caesarea unto me.
En kyk, dadelik was daar drie manne alreeds by die huis waar ek was, gestuur van Cesaréa na my.

And the spirit bade me go with them, nothing doubting. Moreover these six brethren accompanied me, and we entered into the man’s house:
En die Gees het my beveel om saam met hulle te gaan, niks twyfelende nie. Bowendien het hierdie ses broers saam met my gegaan, en ons het in die man se huis ingegaan:

And he shewed us how he had seen an angel in his house, which stood and said unto him, Send men to Joppa, and call for Simon, whose surname is Peter;
En hy het ons vertel hoe hy ’n engel in sy huis sien staan het, wat tot hom gesê het, Stuur manne na Joppe, en laat haal Simon, wie se bynaam Petrus is;

Who shall tell thee words, whereby thou and all thy house shall be saved.
Wat woorde tot jou sal spreek, waardeur jy en jou hele huis gered sal word.

And as I began to speak, the Holy Ghost fell on them, as on us at the beginning.
En soos ek begin het om te spreek, het die Heilige Gees op hulle geval, soos op ons in die begin.

Then remembered I the word of the Lord, how that he said, John indeed baptized with water; but ye shall be baptized with the Holy Ghost.
Toe het ek die woord van die Here onthou, hoe Hy gesê het, Johannes het wel met water gedoop; maar julle sal met die Heilige Gees gedoop word.

Forasmuch then as God gave them the like gift as [he did] unto us, who believed on the Lord Jesus Christ; what was I, that I could withstand God?
Aangesien God hulle dan dieselfde gawe gegee het soos aan ons, wat in die Here Jesus Christus geglo het; wie was ek, dat ek God kon weerstaan?

When they heard these things, they held their peace, and glorified God, saying, Then hath God also to the Gentiles granted repentance unto life.
Toe hulle hierdie dinge gehoor het, het hulle stilgebly, en God verheerlik, sê, Dan het God ook aan die heidene die bekering tot die lewe gegee.

Now they which were scattered abroad upon the persecution that arose about Stephen travelled as far as Phenice, and Cyprus, and Antioch, preaching the word to none but unto the Jews only.
Nou het hulle wat verstrooi is deur die verdrukking wat oor Stefanus ontstaan het, tot Fenisië, en Siprus, en Antiochië gereis, en die woord aan niemand gepreek nie behalwe aan die Jode alleen.

And some of them were men of Cyprus and Cyrene, which, when they were come to Antioch, spake unto the Grecians, preaching the Lord Jesus.
En sommige van hulle was manne van Siprus en Sirene, wat, toe hulle in Antiochië gekom het, tot die Grieke gespreek het, en die Here Jesus verkondig het.

And the hand of the Lord was with them: and a great number believed, and turned unto the Lord.
En die hand van die Here was met hulle: en ‚'n groot getal het geglo, en tot die Here bekeer.

Then tidings of these things came unto the ears of the church which was in Jerusalem: and they sent forth Barnabas, that he should go as far as Antioch.
Toe het die gerug van hierdie dinge tot die ore van die gemeente gekom wat in Jérusalem was: en hulle het Barnabas uitgestuur, dat hy so ver as Antiochië sou gaan.

Who, when he came, and had seen the grace of God, was glad, and exhorted them all, that with purpose of heart they would cleave unto the Lord.
Wat, toe hy gekom het, en die genade van God gesien het, was bly, en het hulle almal vermaan, dat met voorneme van hart hulle by die Here sou bly.

For he was a good man, and full of the Holy Ghost and of faith: and much people was added unto the Lord.
Want hy was ‚'n goeie man, en vol van die Heilige Gees en van geloof: en baie mense is by die Here gevoeg.

Then departed Barnabas to Tarsus, for to seek Saul:
Toe het Barnabas na Tarsus gegaan om Saul te soek: en toe hy hom gevind het, het hy hom na Antiochië gebring.

And when he had found him, he brought him unto Antioch. And it came to pass, that a whole year they assembled themselves with the church, and taught much people. And the disciples were called Christians first in Antioch.
En dit het gebeur, dat hulle ’n hele jaar saam met die gemeente bymekaargekom het, en baie mense geleer het. En die dissipels is eers in Antiochië Christene genoem.

And in these days came prophets from Jerusalem unto Antioch.
En in daardie dae het daar profete van Jérusalem na Antiochië afgekom.

And there stood up one of them named Agabus, and signified by the spirit that there should be great dearth throughout all the world: which came to pass in the days of Claudius Caesar.
En daar het een van hulle opgestaan, met die naam van Agabus, en deur die Gees aangedui dat daar ’n groot hongersnood sou wees deur die hele wêreld: wat gebeur het in die dae van Klaudius César.

Then the disciples, every man according to his ability, determined to send relief unto the brethren which dwelt in Judaea:
Toe het die dissipels, elkeen volgens sy vermoë, besluit om verligting te stuur aan die broers wat in Judea woon:

Which also they did, and sent it to the elders by the hands of Barnabas and Saul.
Wat hulle ook gedoen het, en dit aan die ouderlinge gestuur het deur die hand van Barnabas en Saul.
