And certain men which came down from Judaea taught the brethren, [and said], Except ye be circumcised after the manner of Moses, ye cannot be saved.
En sekere manne wat van Judea afgekoms het, het die broers geleer, As julle nie besny word volgens die gebruik van Moses nie, kan julle nie gered word nie.
2
When therefore Paul and Barnabas had no small dissension and disputation with them, they determined that Paul and Barnabas, and certain other of them, should go up to Jerusalem unto the apostles and elders about this question.
Toe daarom Paulus en Barnabas geen klein verdeeldheid en dispuut met hulle gehad het nie, het hulle bepaal dat Paulus en Barnabas, en sekere ander van hulle, na Jérusalem sou opgaan tot die apostels en ouderlinge aangaande hierdie vraag.

And being brought on their way by the church, they passed through Phenice and Samaria, declaring the conversion of the Gentiles: and they caused great joy unto all the brethren.
En omdat hulle deur die gemeente voortgehelp is, het hulle deur Fenisië en Samaría gegaan, en die bekering van die heidene verklaar: en hulle het groot blydskap aan al die broers veroorsaak.

And when they were come to Jerusalem, they were received of the church, and [of] the apostles and elders, and they declared all things that God had done with them.
En toe hulle in Jérusalem gekom het, is hulle deur die gemeente, en die apostels, en ouderlinge ontvang, en hulle het alles verklaar wat God met hulle gedoen het.

But there rose up certain of the sect of the Pharisees which believed, saying, That it was needful to circumcise them, and to command [them] to keep the law of Moses.
Maar daar het sekere van die sekt van die Fariseërs opgestaan wat geglo het, sê, Dat dit nodig was om hulle te besny, en om hulle te beveel om die wet van Moses te hou.

And the apostles and elders came together for to consider of this matter.
En die apostels en ouderlinge het bymekaargekom om hierdie saak te oorweeg.

And when there had been much disputing, Peter rose up, and said unto them, Men [and] brethren, ye know how that a good while ago God made choice among us, that the Gentiles by my mouth should hear the word of the gospel, and believe.
En toe daar baie dispuut was, het Petrus opgestaan, en tot hulle gesê, Manne en broers, julle weet hoe dat God ’n goeie wyl gelede onder ons gekies het, dat die heidene deur my mond die woord van die evangelie sou hoor, en glo.

And God, which knoweth the hearts, bare them witness, giving them the Holy Ghost, even as [he did] unto us;
En God, wat die harte ken, het hulle getuig, deurdat Hy hulle die Heilige Gees gegee het, soos Hy ook aan ons gedoen het;

And put no difference between us and them, purifying their hearts by faith.
En het geen onderskeid tussen ons en hulle gemaak nie, omdat Hy hulle harte deur die geloof gereinig het.

Now therefore why tempt ye God, to put a yoke upon the neck of the disciples, which neither our fathers nor we were able to bear?
Nou daarom, waarom versoek julle God, om ’n juk op die nek van die dissipels te sit, wat nóg ons vaders nóg ons in staat was om te dra?

But we believe that through the grace of the Lord Jesus Christ we shall be saved, even as they.
Maar ons glo dat deur die genade van die Here Jesus Christus ons gered sal word, net soos hulle.

Then all the multitude kept silence, and gave audience to Barnabas and Paul, declaring what miracles and wonders God had wrought among the Gentiles by them.
Toe het die hele menigte stilgebly, en na Barnabas en Paulus geluister, terwyl hulle verklaar het watter wonders en tekens God deur hulle onder die heidene gedoen het.

And after they had held their peace, James answered, saying, Men [and] brethren, hearken unto me:
En nadat hulle stilgehou het, het Jakobus geantwoord, sê, Manne en broers, luister na my:
14
Simeon hath declared how God at the first did visit the Gentiles, to take out of them a people for his name.
Simeon het verklaar hoe God eers die heidene besoek het, om uit hulle ‚'n volk vir sy Naam te neem.

And to this agree the words of the prophets; as it is written,
En hiermee stem die woorde van die profete ooreen; soos geskrywe is,

After this I will return, and will build again the tabernacle of David, which is fallen down; and I will build again the ruins thereof, and I will set it up:
Ná hierdie dinge sal ek terugkeer, en die tabernakel van Dawid oprig wat omgeval het; en ek sal die ruïnes daarvan oprig, en ek sal dit oprig:

That the residue of men might seek after the Lord, and all the Gentiles, upon whom my name is called, saith the Lord, who doeth all these things.
Dat die oorblyfsel van die mense die Here mag soek, en al die heidene, oor wie my Naam aangeroep is, sê die Here, wat al hierdie dinge doen.

Known unto God are all his works from the beginning of the world.
Bekend is aan God al sy werke van die begin van die wêreld af.

Wherefore my sentence is, that we trouble not them, which from among the Gentiles are turned to God:
Daarom is my oordeel, dat ons nie dié bemoeilik wat uit die heidene tot God bekeer nie:
20
But that we write unto them, that they abstain from pollutions of idols, and [from] fornication, and [from] things strangled, and [from] blood.
Maar dat ons aan hulle skrywe, dat hulle hulle moet onthou van die besoedelinge van afgode, en van hoerery, en van dit wat verwurg is, en van bloed.
21
For Moses of old time hath in every city them that preach him, being read in the synagogues every sabbath day.
Want Moses het van ouds af in elke stad dié wat hom verkondig, omdat hy in die sinagoges elke sabbat gelees word.

Then pleased it the apostles and elders, with the whole church, to send chosen men of their own company to Antioch with Paul and Barnabas; [namely], Judas surnamed Barsabas, and Silas, chief men among the brethren:
Toe het dit die apostels en ouderlinge, met die hele gemeente, behaag, om uitverkose manne van hulle eie geselskap na Antiochië te stuur met Paulus en Barnabas; naamlik, Judas bynaam Barsabas, en Silas, voornaamste manne onder die broers:

And they wrote [letters] by them after this manner; The apostles and elders and brethren [send] greeting unto the brethren which are of the Gentiles in Antioch and Syria and Cilicia:
En hulle het deur hulle hand geskrywe so: Die apostels en ouderlinge en broers stuur groete aan die broers wat uit die heidene is in Antiochië en Sirië en Silisië:

Forasmuch as we have heard, that certain which went out from us have troubled you with words, subverting your souls, saying, [Ye must] be circumcised, and keep the law: to whom we gave no [such] commandment:
Aangesien ons gehoor het, dat sekere wat van ons uitgegaan het julle met woorde ontstel het, julle siele omverwerpende, sê, Julle moet besny word, en die wet hou: aan wie ons geen sodanige bevel gegee het nie:

It seemed good unto us, being assembled with one accord, to send chosen men unto you with our beloved Barnabas and Paul,
Het dit ons, eendragtig bymekaar synde, behaag, om uitverkose manne na julle te stuur met ons geliefde Barnabas en Paulus,

Men that have hazarded their lives for the name of our Lord Jesus Christ.
Manne wat hulle lewens oorgegee het om die Naam van onse Here Jesus Christus.
27
We have sent therefore Judas and Silas, who shall also tell [you] the same things by mouth.
Ons het daarom Judas en Silas gestuur, wat self ook julle dieselfde dinge mondeling sal aankondig.
28
For it seemed good to the Holy Ghost, and to us, to lay upon you no greater burden than these necessary things;
Want dit het die Heilige Gees en ons behaag, om geen groter las op julle te lê as hierdie noodsaaklike dinge nie;
29
That ye abstain from meats offered to idols, and from blood, and from things strangled, and from fornication: from which if ye keep yourselves, ye shall do well. Fare ye well.
Dat julle julle onthou van dinge wat aan afgode geoffer is, en van bloed, en van dit wat verwurg is, en van hoerery: waarvan as julle julle onthou, julle goed sal doen. Vaarwel.

So when they were dismissed, they came to Antioch: and when they had gathered the multitude together, they delivered the epistle:
So toe hulle weggestuur is, het hulle in Antiochië gekom: en toe hulle die menigte bymekaargeroep het, het hulle die brief afgelewer:

[Which] when they had read, they rejoiced for the consolation.
Wat toe hulle dit gelees het, het hulle hulle verbly oor die vertroosting.

And Judas and Silas, being prophets also themselves, exhorted the brethren with many words, and confirmed [them].
En Judas en Silas, self ook synde profete, het die broers met baie woorde vermaan, en versterk.
33
And after they had tarried [there] a space, they were let go in peace from the brethren unto the apostles.
En nadat hulle ‚'n tyd daar vertoef het, is hulle in vrede van die broers weggestuur na die apostels.

Notwithstanding it pleased Silas to abide there still.
Nietemin het dit Silas behaag om daar te bly.
35
Paul also and Barnabas continued in Antioch, teaching and preaching the word of the Lord, with many others also.
Paulus het ook en Barnabas in Antiochië vertoef, en geleer, en die woord van die Here verkondig, met baie ander ook.
36
And some days after Paul said unto Barnabas, Let us go again and visit our brethren in every city where we have preached the word of the Lord, [and see] how they do.
En ’n paar dae daarna het Paulus tot Barnabas gesê, Laat ons weer gaan en ons broers besoek in elke stad waar ons die woord van die Here verkondig het, en sien hoe hulle dit maak.

And Barnabas determined to take with them John, whose surname was Mark.
En Barnabas het bepaal om Johannes, wie se bynaam Markus was, saam te neem.
38
But Paul thought not good to take him with them, who departed from them from Pamphylia, and went not with them to the work.
Maar Paulus het dit nie goed gedink om hom saam te neem nie, wat van hulle gewyk het van Pámfilië af, en nie saam met hulle na die werk gegaan het nie.
39
And the contention was so sharp between them, that they departed asunder one from the other: and so Barnabas took Mark, and sailed unto Cyprus;
En die stryd was so skerp tussen hulle, dat hulle van mekaar geskei het: en so het Barnabas Markus geneem, en na Siprus gevaar;
40
And Paul chose Silas, and departed, being recommended by the brethren unto the grace of God.
En Paulus het Silas gekies, en weggegaan, oorgegee aan die genade van God deur die broers.
41
And he went through Syria and Cilicia, confirming the churches.
En hy het deur Sirië en Silisië gegaan, die gemeentes versterkende.
