I [am] the LORD thy God, which have brought thee out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of bondage.
Ek is die HERE jou God, wat jou uit die land Egipte, uit die huis van diensbaarheid, uitgelei het.

Thou shalt have no other gods before me.
Jy mag geen ander gode voor my aangesig hê nie.
4
Thou shalt not make unto thee any graven image, or any likeness [of any thing] that [is] in heaven above, or that [is] in the earth beneath, or that [is] in the water under the earth:
Jy mag vir jou geen gesnede beeld maak, of enige gelykenis van iets wat in die hemel daarbo is, of wat op die aarde hieronder is, of wat in die water onder die aarde is nie:

Thou shalt not bow down thyself to them, nor serve them: for I the LORD thy God [am] a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children unto the third and fourth [generation] of them that hate me;
Jy mag jou voor hulle nie neerbuig, of hulle dien nie: want ek, die HERE jou God, is ’n jaloerse God, wat die ongeregtigheid van die vaders besoek aan die kinders tot in die derde en vierde geslag van dié wat My haat;

And shewing mercy unto thousands of them that love me, and keep my commandments.
En barmhartigheid bewys aan duisende van dié wat My liefhet, en my gebooie onderhou.
7
Thou shalt not take the name of the LORD thy God in vain; for the LORD will not hold him guiltless that taketh his name in vain.
Jy mag die Naam van die HERE jou God nie ydellik gebruik nie; want die HERE sal hom nie ongestraf laat wat sy Naam ydellik gebruik nie.
8
Remember the sabbath day, to keep it holy.
Gedenk die sabbatdag, om dit te heilig.
9
Six days shalt thou labour, and do all thy work:
Ses dae moet jy arbei, en al jou werk doen:
10
But the seventh day [is] the sabbath of the LORD thy God: [in it] thou shalt not do any work, thou, nor thy son, nor thy daughter, thy manservant, nor thy maidservant, nor thy cattle, nor thy stranger that [is] within thy gates:
Maar die sewende dag is die sabbat van die HERE jou God: daarin mag jy geen werk doen nie, jy, of jou seun, of jou dogter, jou dienskneg, of jou diensmaagd, of jou vee, of jou vreemdeling wat binne jou poorte is:

For [in] six days the LORD made heaven and earth, the sea, and all that in them [is], and rested the seventh day: wherefore the LORD blessed the sabbath day, and hallowed it.
Want in ses dae het die HERE die hemel en die aarde gemaak, die see, en alles wat daarin is, en op die sewende dag gerus: daarom het die HERE die sabbatdag geseën, en dit geheilig.

Honour thy father and thy mother: that thy days may be long upon the land which the LORD thy God giveth thee.
Eer jou vader en jou moeder: dat jou dae verleng mag word in die land wat die HERE jou God jou gee.
13
Thou shalt not kill.
Jy mag nie doodslaan nie.
14
Thou shalt not commit adultery.
Jy mag nie egbreuk pleeg nie.
15
Thou shalt not steal.
Jy mag nie steel nie.
16
Thou shalt not bear false witness against thy neighbour.
Jy mag geen valse getuienis teen jou naaste spreek nie.
17
Thou shalt not covet thy neighbour’s house, thou shalt not covet thy neighbour’s wife, nor his manservant, nor his maidservant, nor his ox, nor his ass, nor any thing that [is] thy neighbour’s.
Jy mag nie begeer jou naaste se huis nie, jy mag nie begeer jou naaste se vrou nie, of sy dienskneg, of sy diensmaagd, of sy os, of sy esel, of iets wat aan jou naaste behoort nie.

And all the people saw the thunderings, and the lightnings, and the noise of the trumpet, and the mountain smoking: and when the people saw [it], they removed, and stood afar off.
En die hele volk het die donderslae, en die blitse, en die geluid van die basuin, en die berg rook sien: en toe die volk dit sien, het hulle gebeef, en ver af gestaan.

And they said unto Moses, Speak thou with us, and we will hear: but let not God speak with us, lest we die.
En hulle het tot Moses gesê, Spreek jy met ons, en ons sal luister: maar laat God nie met ons spreek nie, dat ons nie sterwe nie.
20
And Moses said unto the people, Fear not: for God is come to prove you, and that his fear may be before your faces, that ye sin not.
En Moses het tot die volk gesê, Vrees nie: want God is gekom om julle te beproef, en dat sy vrees voor julle aangesig mag wees, dat julle nie sondig nie.
21
And the people stood afar off, and Moses drew near unto the thick darkness where God [was].
En die volk het van ver af gestaan, en Moses het nader gekom tot die digte duisternis waar God was.
22
And the LORD said unto Moses, Thus thou shalt say unto the children of Israel, Ye have seen that I have talked with you from heaven.
En die HERE het tot Moses gesê, So moet jy tot die kinders van Israel sê, Julle het gesien dat ek met julle van die hemel af gespreek het.
23
Ye shall not make with me gods of silver, neither shall ye make unto you gods of gold.
Julle mag by My geen gode van silwer maak nie, en julle mag geen gode van goud vir julle maak nie.
24
An altar of earth thou shalt make unto me, and shalt sacrifice thereon thy burnt offerings, and thy peace offerings, thy sheep, and thine oxen: in all places where I record my name I will come unto thee, and I will bless thee.
’n Altaar van aarde moet jy vir My maak, en daarop moet jy jou brandoffers, en jou dankoffers, jou skape, en jou beeste offer: in al die plekke waar ek my Naam sal laat gedenk, sal ek na jou kom, en jou seën.

And if thou wilt make me an altar of stone, thou shalt not build it of hewn stone: for if thou lift up thy tool upon it, thou hast polluted it.
En as jy vir My ‚'n altaar van klip maak, moet jy dit nie van gekapte klip bou nie: want as jy jou yster daaroor hef, het jy dit ontheilig.
26
Neither shalt thou go up by steps unto mine altar, that thy nakedness be not discovered thereon.
En jy mag nie met trappe op my altaar klim nie, dat jou naaktheid daarop nie ontbloot word nie.
