And it came to pass in the eleventh year, in the first [day] of the month, [that] the word of the LORD came unto me, saying,
En dit het gebeur in die elfde jaar, op die eerste dag van die maand, dat die woord van die HERE tot my gekom het, sê,

Son of man, because that Tyrus hath said against Jerusalem, Aha, she is broken [that was] the gates of the people: she is turned unto me: I shall be replenished, [now] she is laid waste:
Seun van die mens, omdat Tirus teen Jérusalem gesê het, Ah, Ah, sy is verbreek wat die poorte van die volk was: sy is tot my toe omgekeer: ek sal vol word, nou dat sy verwoes is:

Therefore thus saith the Lord GOD; Behold, I [am] against thee, O Tyrus, and will cause many nations to come up against thee, as the sea causeth his waves to come up.
Daarom so sê die Here GOD; Kyk, ek is teen jou, o Tirus, en sal baie nasies teen jou laat opkom, soos die see sy golwe laat opkom.

And they shall destroy the walls of Tyrus, and break down her towers: I will also scrape her dust from her, and make her like the top of a rock.
En hulle sal die mure van Tirus vernietig, en haar torings afbreek: ek sal ook haar stof van haar afvee, en haar soos die top van ‚'n rots maak.
5
It shall be [a place for] the spreading of nets in the midst of the sea: for I have spoken [it], saith the Lord GOD: and it shall become a spoil to the nations.
Dit sal ’n plek wees vir die uitspreiding van nette in die midde van die see: want ek het dit gespreek, sê die Here GOD: en dit sal ’n roof word vir die nasies.

And her daughters which [are] in the field shall be slain by the sword; and they shall know that I [am] the LORD.
En haar dogters wat in die veld is, sal deur die swaard doodgeslaan word; en hulle sal weet dat ek die HERE is.
7
For thus saith the Lord GOD; Behold, I will bring upon Tyrus Nebuchadrezzar king of Babylon, a king of kings, from the north, with horses, and with chariots, and with horsemen, and companies, and much people.
Want so sê die Here GOD; Kyk, ek sal teen Tirus Nebukadrésar koning van Babel bring, ’n koning van konings, van die noorde, met perde, en met strydwaens, en met ruiters, en geselskappe, en baie mense.

He shall slay with the sword thy daughters in the field: and he shall make a fort against thee, and cast a mount against thee, and lift up the buckler against thee.
Hy sal jou dogters in die veld met die swaard doodslaan: en hy sal ‚'n fort teen jou oprig, en ‚'n wal teen jou gooi op, en die skild teen jou ophef.

And he shall set engines of war against thy walls, and with his axes he shall break down thy towers.
En hy sal stormramme teen jou mure sit, en jou torings met sy bylstokke afbreek.
10
By reason of the abundance of his horses their dust shall cover thee: thy walls shall shake at the noise of the horsemen, and of the wheels, and of the chariots, when he shall enter into thy gates, as men enter into a city wherein is made a breach.
Deur die menigte van sy perde sal hulle stof jou bedek: jou mure sal bewe by die geraas van die ruiters, en van die wiele, en van die strydwaens, wanneer hy in jou poorte inkom, soos manne in ‚'n stad inkom waarin ‚'n bres gemaak is.

With the hoofs of his horses shall he tread down all thy streets: he shall slay thy people by the sword, and thy strong garrisons shall go down to the ground.
Met die hoewe van sy perde sal hy al jou strate vertrap: hy sal jou volk met die swaard doodslaan, en jou sterk garnisoene sal tot die grond neergaan.

And they shall make a spoil of thy riches, and make a prey of thy merchandise: and they shall break down thy walls, and destroy thy pleasant houses: and they shall lay thy stones and thy timber and thy dust in the midst of the water.
En hulle sal jou rykdom as buit neem, en jou handelsware roof: en hulle sal jou mure afbreek, en jou aangename huise vernietig: en hulle sal jou klippe en jou hout en jou stof in die midde van die water lê.

And I will cause the noise of thy songs to cease; and the sound of thy harps shall be no more heard.
En ek sal die geraas van jou liedere laat ophou; en die klank van jou harpe sal nie meer gehoor word nie.
14
And I will make thee like the top of a rock: thou shalt be [a place] to spread nets upon; thou shalt be built no more: for I the LORD have spoken [it], saith the Lord GOD.
En ek sal jou soos die top van ’n rots maak: jy sal ’n plek wees om nette op uit te sprei; jy sal nie meer gebou word nie: want ek die HERE het dit gespreek, sê die Here GOD.

Thus saith the Lord GOD to Tyrus; Shall not the isles shake at the sound of thy fall, when the wounded cry, when the slaughter is made in the midst of thee?
So sê die Here GOD tot Tirus; Sal nie die eilande bewe by die geraas van jou val, wanneer die gewonde kerm, wanneer die slagting in die midde van jou gemaak word nie?

Then all the princes of the sea shall come down from their thrones, and lay away their robes, and put off their broidered garments: they shall clothe themselves with trembling; they shall sit upon the ground, and shall tremble at [every] moment, and be astonished at thee.
Dan sal al die vorstes van die see van hulle trone afklim, en hulle robe uittrek, en hulle geborduurde klere uittrek: hulle sal hulleself met bewing beklee; hulle sal op die grond sit, en elke oomblik bewe, en verbaas wees oor jou.

And they shall take up a lamentation for thee, and say to thee, How art thou destroyed, [that wast] inhabited of seafaring men, the renowned city, which wast strong in the sea, she and her inhabitants, which cause their terror [to be] on all that haunt it!
En hulle sal ’n weeklag vir jou opneem, en tot jou sê, Hoe is jy vernietig, wat bewoon was deur seewaarders, die beroemde stad, wat sterk was in die see, sy en haar inwoners, wat hulle verskrikking op almal wat daarin woon, gelê het!

Now shall the isles tremble in the day of thy fall; yea, the isles that [are] in the sea shall be troubled at thy departure.
Nou sal die eilande bewe in die dag van jou val; ja, die eilande wat in die see is, sal ontsteld wees by jou vertrek.
19
For thus saith the Lord GOD; When I shall make thee a desolate city, like the cities that are not inhabited; when I shall bring up the deep upon thee, and great waters shall cover thee;
Want so sê die Here GOD; Wanneer ek jou ’n verwoeste stad maak, soos die stede wat nie bewoon word nie; wanneer ek die diepte oor jou laat opkom, en groot waters jou bedek;

When I shall bring thee down with them that descend into the pit, with the people of old time, and shall set thee in the low parts of the earth, in places desolate of old, with them that go down to the pit, that thou be not inhabited; and I shall set glory in the land of the living;
Wanneer ek jou saam met dié wat in die put afdaal, afbring, met die volk van ouds, en jou in die laer dele van die aarde, in plekke wat van ouds af verwoes is, stel, met dié wat in die put afdaal, dat jy nie bewoon word nie; en ek sal heerlikheid in die land van die lewendes stel;
21
I will make thee a terror, and thou [shalt be] no [more]: though thou be sought for, yet shalt thou never be found again, saith the Lord GOD.
Ek sal jou ’n verskrikking maak, en jy sal nie meer wees nie: alhoewel jy gesoek word, tog sal jy nooit meer gevind word nie, sê die Here GOD.
