Now, thou son of man, take up a lamentation for Tyrus;
Nou, jy seun van die mens, neem op ‚'n weeklag vir Tirus;

And say unto Tyrus, O thou that art situate at the entry of the sea, [which art] a merchant of the people for many isles, Thus saith the Lord GOD; O Tyrus, thou hast said, I [am] of perfect beauty.
En sê tot Tirus, o jy wat by die ingang van die see woon, wat ’n handelaar is van die volk vir baie eilande, So sê die Here GOD; O Tirus, jy het gesê, Ek is van volkome skoonheid.

Thy borders [are] in the midst of the seas, thy builders have perfected thy beauty.
Jou grense is in die hart van die see, jou bouers het jou skoonheid volmaak gemaak.
5
They have made all thy [ship] boards of fir trees of Senir: they have taken cedars from Lebanon to make masts for thee.
Hulle het al jou skeepsplanke van dennebome van Senir gemaak: hulle het seders van Líbanon geneem om maste vir jou te maak.
6
[Of] the oaks of Bashan have they made thine oars; the company of the Ashurites have made thy benches [of] ivory, [brought] out of the isles of Chittim.
Van die eikebome van Basan het hulle jou roeie gemaak; die geselskap van die Assiriërs het jou banke van ivoor gemaak, uitgebring uit die eilande van Kittim.

Fine linen with broidered work from Egypt was that which thou spreadest forth to be thy sail; blue and purple from the isles of Elishah was that which covered thee.
Fyn linne met geborduurde werk uit Egipte was dit wat jy uitgesprei het om jou seil te wees; blou en purper uit die eilande van Elisa was dit wat jou dekking was.

The inhabitants of Zidon and Arvad were thy mariners: thy wise [men], O Tyrus, [that] were in thee, were thy pilots.
Die inwoners van Sidon en Arvad was jou roeiers: jou wyse manne, o Tirus, wat in jou was, was jou loodse.
9
The ancients of Gebal and the wise [men] thereof were in thee thy calkers: all the ships of the sea with their mariners were in thee to occupy thy merchandise.
Die oudstes van Gebal en die wyse manne daarvan was in jou jou kalewers: al die skepe van die see met hulle matrose was in jou om jou handelsware te hanteer.

They of Persia and of Lud and of Phut were in thine army, thy men of war: they hanged the shield and helmet in thee; they set forth thy comeliness.
Hulle van Persië en van Lud en van Put was in jou leër, jou manne van oorlog: hulle het die skild en helm in jou opgehang; hulle het jou jou skoonheid gegee.

The men of Arvad with thine army [were] upon thy walls round about, and the Gammadims were in thy towers: they hanged their shields upon thy walls round about; they have made thy beauty perfect.
Die manne van Arvad met jou leër was op jou mure rondom, en die Gammadiete was in jou torings: hulle het hulle skilde op jou mure rondom gehang; hulle het jou skoonheid volmaak gemaak.

Tarshish [was] thy merchant by reason of the multitude of all [kind of] riches; with silver, iron, tin, and lead, they traded in thy fairs.
Tarsis was jou handelaar vanweë die menigte van allerhande rykdom; met silwer, yster, tin, en lood, het hulle in jou markte gehandel.
13
Javan, Tubal, and Meshech, they [were] thy merchants: they traded the persons of men and vessels of brass in thy market.
Jawan, Tubal, en Meseg, hulle was jou handelaars: hulle het die persone van mense en vate van koper in jou mark gehandel.
14
They of the house of Togarmah traded in thy fairs with horses and horsemen and mules.
Hulle van die huis van Togarma het perde en ruiters en muile in jou markte gehandel.

The men of Dedan [were] thy merchants; many isles [were] the merchandise of thine hand: they brought thee [for] a present horns of ivory and ebony.
Die manne van Dedan was jou handelaars; baie eilande was die handelsware van jou hand: hulle het vir jou horings van ivoor en ebbenhout as geskenke gebring.

Syria [was] thy merchant by reason of the multitude of the wares of thy making: they occupied in thy fairs with emeralds, purple, and broidered work, and fine linen, and coral, and agate.
Sirië was jou handelaar vanweë die menigte van die ware van jou maaksel: hulle het in jou markte gehandel met smaragde, purper, en geborduurde werk, en fyn linne, en koraal, en agaat.

Judah, and the land of Israel, they [were] thy merchants: they traded in thy market wheat of Minnith, and Pannag, and honey, and oil, and balm.
Juda, en die land van Israel, hulle was jou handelaars: hulle het in jou markte gehandel met koring van Minnit, en Pannag, en heuning, en olie, en balsem.

Damascus [was] thy merchant in the multitude of the wares of thy making, for the multitude of all riches; in the wine of Helbon, and white wool.
Damaskus was jou handelaar in die menigte van die ware van jou maaksel, vir die menigte van allerhande rykdom; in die wyn van Helbon, en wit wol.
19
Dan also and Javan going to and fro occupied in thy fairs: bright iron, cassia, and calamus, were in thy market.
Dan ook en Jawan wat heen en weer gegaan het, het in jou markte gehandel: helder yster, kassie, en kalmus, was in jou mark.
20
Dedan [was] thy merchant in precious clothes for chariots.
Dedan was jou handelaar in kosbare klere vir strydwaens.
21
Arabia, and all the princes of Kedar, they occupied with thee in lambs, and rams, and goats: in these [were they] thy merchants.
Arabië, en al die vorstes van Kedar, hulle het met jou gehandel in lammers, en ramme, en bokke: in hierdie was hulle jou handelaars.
22
The merchants of Sheba and Raamah, they [were] thy merchants: they occupied in thy fairs with chief of all spices, and with all precious stones, and gold.
Die handelaars van Skeba en Raëma, hulle was jou handelaars: hulle het in jou markte gehandel met al die beste speserye, en met al soorte edelgesteentes, en goud.

Haran, and Canneh, and Eden, the merchants of Sheba, Asshur, [and] Chilmad, [were] thy merchants.
Haran, en Kanne, en Eden, die handelaars van Skeba, Assur, en Kilmad, was jou handelaars.
24
These [were] thy merchants in all sorts [of things], in blue clothes, and broidered work, and in chests of rich apparel, bound with cords, and made of cedar, among thy merchandise.
Hierdie was jou handelaars in allerhande dinge, in blou klere, en geborduurde werk, en in kiste van ryk klere, gebind met toue, en gemaak van seder, onder jou handelsware.

The ships of Tarshish did sing of thee in thy market: and thou wast replenished, and made very glorious in the midst of the seas.
Die skepe van Tarsis het van jou oor jou handelsware gesing: en jy is gevul, en baie heerlik gemaak in die hart van die see.

Thy rowers have brought thee into great waters: the east wind hath broken thee in the midst of the seas.
Jou roeiers het jou in groot waters gebring: die oostewind het jou in die hart van die see verbreek.
27
Thy riches, and thy fairs, thy merchandise, thy mariners, and thy pilots, thy calkers, and the occupiers of thy merchandise, and all thy men of war, that [are] in thee, and in all thy company which [is] in the midst of thee, shall fall into the midst of the seas in the day of thy ruin.
Jou rykdom, en jou markte, jou handelsware, jou matrose, en jou loodse, jou kalewers, en die handelaars van jou handelsware, en al jou manne van oorlog, wat in jou is, en in al jou geselskap wat in die midde van jou is, sal in die hart van die see val in die dag van jou val.

The suburbs shall shake at the sound of the cry of thy pilots.
Die voorstede sal bewe by die geluid van die geroep van jou loodse.
29
And all that handle the oar, the mariners, [and] all the pilots of the sea, shall come down from their ships, they shall stand upon the land;
En almal wat die roei hanteer, die matrose, en al die loodse van die see, sal van hulle skepe afklim, hulle sal op die land staan;
30
And shall cause their voice to be heard against thee, and shall cry bitterly, and shall cast up dust upon their heads, they shall wallow themselves in the ashes:
En sal hulle stemme oor jou laat hoor, en bitterlik roep, en sal stof op hulle hoofde gooi, hulle sal hulleself in die as rol:
31
And they shall make themselves utterly bald for thee, and gird them with sackcloth, and they shall weep for thee with bitterness of heart [and] bitter wailing.
En hulle sal hulleself heeltemal kaal maak vir jou, en sakdoek omgord, en sal vir jou ween met bitterheid van siel en bitter weeklag.
32
And in their wailing they shall take up a lamentation for thee, and lament over thee, [saying], What [city is] like Tyrus, like the destroyed in the midst of the sea?
En in hulle weeklag sal hulle ’n weeklag vir jou opneem, en weeklaag oor jou, sê, Watter stad is soos Tirus, soos die vernietigde in die midde van die see?
33
When thy wares went forth out of the seas, thou filledst many people; thou didst enrich the kings of the earth with the multitude of thy riches and of thy merchandise.
Wanneer jou ware uitgegaan het uit die see, het jy baie mense versadig; jy het die konings van die aarde verryk met die menigte van jou rykdom en van jou handelsware.
34
In the time [when] thou shalt be broken by the seas in the depths of the waters thy merchandise and all thy company in the midst of thee shall fall.
In die tyd wanneer jy deur die see verbreek sal word in die dieptes van die waters sal jou handelsware en al jou geselskap in die midde van jou val.
35
All the inhabitants of the isles shall be astonished at thee, and their kings shall be sore afraid, they shall be troubled in [their] countenance.
Al die inwoners van die eilande sal verbaas wees oor jou, en hulle konings sal uitermate bang wees, hulle sal ontsteld wees in hulle aangesig.
36
The merchants among the people shall hiss at thee; thou shalt be a terror, and never [shalt be] any more.
Die handelaars onder die volk sal teen jou fluit; jy sal ‚'n verskrikking wees, en nooit meer vir ewig wees nie.
