Moreover the word of the LORD came unto me, saying,

Bowendien het die woord van die HERE tot my gekom, sê,

Son of man, set thy face against mount Seir, and prophesy against it,

Seun van die mens, sit jou aangesig teen die berg Seïr, en profeteer teen dit,

And say unto it, Thus saith the Lord GOD; Behold, O mount Seir, I [am] against thee, and I will stretch out mine hand against thee, and I will make thee most desolate.

En sê tot dit, So sê die Here GOD; Kyk, o berg Seïr, ek is teen jou, en ek sal my hand teen jou uitsteek, en ek sal jou heeltemal verwoes maak.

I will lay thy cities waste, and thou shalt be desolate, and thou shalt know that I [am] the LORD.

Ek sal jou stede verwoes maak, en jy sal verwoes word: en jy sal weet dat ek die HERE is.

Because thou hast had a perpetual hatred, and hast shed [the blood of] the children of Israel by the force of the sword in the time of their calamity, in the time [that their] iniquity [had] an end:

Omdat jy ‚'n voortdurende haat gehad het, en die kinders van Israel deur die mag van die swaard in die tyd van hulle ramp, in die tyd dat hulle ongeregtigheid ‚'n einde gehad het, uitgelewer het:

Therefore, [as] I live, saith the Lord GOD, I will prepare thee unto blood, and blood shall pursue thee: sith thou hast not hated blood, even blood shall pursue thee.

Daarom, so waar as ek lewe, sê die Here GOD, ek sal jou tot bloed berei, en bloed sal jou agtervolg: aangesien jy nie bloed gehaat het nie, selfs bloed sal jou agtervolg.

Thus will I make mount Seir most desolate, and cut off from it him that passeth out and him that returneth.

So sal ek die berg Seïr heeltemal verwoes maak, en sal van hom afsny hom wat heengaan en hom wat terugkeer.

And I will fill his mountains with his slain [men]: in thy hills, and in thy valleys, and in all thy rivers, shall they fall that are slain with the sword.

En ek sal sy berge met sy dooie vul: in jou heuwels, en in jou valleie, en in al jou riviere, sal dié lê wat met die swaard doodgeslaan is.

I will make thee perpetual desolations, and thy cities shall not return: and ye shall know that I [am] the LORD.

Ek sal jou tot voortdurende verwoestings maak, en jou stede sal nie terugkeer nie: en julle sal weet dat ek die HERE is.

Because thou hast said, These two nations and these two countries shall be mine, and we will possess it; whereas the LORD was there:

Omdat jy gesê het, Hierdie twee nasies en hierdie twee lande sal myne wees, en ons sal dit besit; terwyl die HERE daar was:

Therefore, [as] I live, saith the Lord GOD, I will even do according to thine anger, and according to thine envy which thou hast used out of thy hatred against them; and I will make myself known among them, when I have judged thee.

Daarom, so waar as ek lewe, sê die Here GOD, ek sal selfs handel volgens jou toorn, en volgens jou ywer wat jy uit jou haat teen hulle uitgestort het; en ek sal My onder hulle bekend maak, wanneer ek jou oordeel.

And thou shalt know that I [am] the LORD, [and that] I have heard all thy blasphemies which thou hast spoken against the mountains of Israel, saying, They are laid desolate, they are given us to consume.

En jy sal weet dat ek die HERE is, en dat ek al jou lasteringe gehoor het wat jy teen die berge van Israel gespreek het, sê, Hulle is verwoes, hulle is aan ons gegee om te verteer.

Thus with your mouth ye have boasted against me, and have multiplied your words against me: I have heard [them].

So het julle julle met julle mond teen My grootgemaak, en julle woorde teen My vermeerder: ek het dit gehoor.

Thus saith the Lord GOD; When the whole earth rejoiceth, I will make thee desolate.

So sê die Here GOD; Wanneer die hele aarde juig, sal ek jou verwoes maak.

As thou didst rejoice at the inheritance of the house of Israel, because it was desolate, so will I do unto thee: thou shalt be desolate, O mount Seir, and all Idumea, [even] all of it: and they shall know that I [am] the LORD.

Soos jy jou verheug het by die erfenis van die huis van Israel, omdat dit verwoes is, so sal ek aan jou doen: jy sal verwoes word, o berg Seïr, en die hele Idumea, selfs almal daarvan: en hulle sal weet dat ek die HERE is.
