And Jacob called unto his sons, and said, Gather yourselves together, that I may tell you [that] which shall befall you in the last days.
En Jakob het sy seuns geroep, en gesê, Versamel julle, dat ek julle kan vertel wat julle in die laaste dae sal oorkom.
2
Gather yourselves together, and hear, ye sons of Jacob; and hearken unto Israel your father.
Kom bymekaar, en hoor, julle seuns van Jakob; en luister na Israel julle vader.
3
Reuben, thou [art] my firstborn, my might, and the beginning of my strength, the excellency of dignity, and the excellency of power:
Ruben, jy is my eersgeborene, my krag, en die begin van my sterkte, die uitnemendheid van waardigheid, en die uitnemendheid van mag:
4
Unstable as water, thou shalt not excel; because thou wentest up to thy father’s bed; then defiledst thou [it]: he went up to my couch.
Onbestendig soos water, jy sal nie uitnemend wees nie; omdat jy opgeklou het na jou vader se bed; toe het jy dit onteer: hy het opgeklou na my rusbed.

Simeon and Levi [are] brethren; instruments of cruelty [are in] their habitations.
Simeon en Levi is broers; instrumente van wreedheid is in hulle wonings.
6
O my soul, come not thou into their secret; unto their assembly, mine honour, be not thou united: for in their anger they slew a man, and in their selfwill they digged down a wall.
O my siel, kom nie in hulle geheime raad nie; tot hulle vergadering, wees nie verenig, my eer nie: want in hulle toorn het hulle ‚'n man doodgemaak, en in hulle eiesinnigheid het hulle ‚'n muur afgegrawe.

Cursed [be] their anger, for [it was] fierce; and their wrath, for it was cruel: I will divide them in Jacob, and scatter them in Israel.
Vervloek is hulle toorn, want dit was wreed; en hulle grimmigheid, want dit was hard: ek sal hulle verdeel in Jakob, en hulle verstrooi in Israel.

Judah, thou [art he] whom thy brethren shall praise: thy hand [shall be] in the neck of thine enemies; thy father’s children shall bow down before thee.
Juda, jy is dit wat jou broers sal prys: jou hand sal op die nek van jou vyande wees; jou vader se seuns sal voor jou neerbuig.

Judah [is] a lion’s whelp: from the prey, my son, thou art gone up: he stooped down, he couched as a lion, and as an old lion; who shall rouse him up?
Juda is ’n leeuwelp: van die prooi, my seun, het jy opgeklim: hy het neergebuig, hy het gaan lê soos ’n leeu, en soos ’n ou leeu; wie sal hom opwek?

The sceptre shall not depart from Judah, nor a lawgiver from between his feet, until Shiloh come; and unto him [shall] the gathering of the people [be].
Die septer sal van Juda nie wyk nie, en die wetgewer van tussen sy voete nie, totdat Silo kom; en aan Hom sal die volke gehoorsaam wees.

Binding his foal unto the vine, and his ass’s colt unto the choice vine; he washed his garments in wine, and his clothes in the blood of grapes:
Hy bind sy jong esel aan die wingerdstok, en sy eselin se jong aan die keurige wingerdstok; hy was sy klere in wyn, en sy mantel in die bloed van druiwe:

His eyes [shall be] red with wine, and his teeth white with milk.
Sy oë is rooi van wyn, en sy tande wit van mel.
13
Zebulun shall dwell at the haven of the sea; and he [shall be] for an haven of ships; and his border [shall be] unto Zidon.
Sébulon sal by die hawe van die see woon; en hy sal wees vir ’n hawe van skepe; en sy grens sal tot by Sidon wees.
14
Issachar [is] a strong ass couching down between two burdens:
Issaskar is ’n sterk esel wat tussen die veekralle lê:
15
And he saw that rest [was] good, and the land that [it was] pleasant; and bowed his shoulder to bear, and became a servant unto tribute.
En hy het die rus gesien dat dit goed was, en die land dat dit aangenaam was; en hy het sy skouer gebuig om te dra, en is dienspligtig geword tot dwangarbeid.

Dan shall judge his people, as one of the tribes of Israel.
Dan sal sy volk oordeel soos een van die stamme van Israel.
17
Dan shall be a serpent by the way, an adder in the path, that biteth the horse heels, so that his rider shall fall backward.
Dan sal ‚'n slang by die pad wees, ‚'n asp by die pad, wat die perd se hakke byt, sodat sy ruiter agteroor val.
18
I have waited for thy salvation, O LORD.
Ek het gewag op u verlossing, o HERE.
19
Gad, a troop shall overcome him: but he shall overcome at the last.
Gad, ‚'n troep sal hom oorval: maar hy sal op die laaste oorval.
20
Out of Asher his bread [shall be] fat, and he shall yield royal dainties.
Uit Aser sal sy brood vet wees, en hy sal koninklike lekkernye voortbring.
21
Naphtali [is] a hind let loose: he giveth goodly words.
Naftali is ‚'n losgemaakte hinde: hy gee mooi woorde.
22
Joseph [is] a fruitful bough, [even] a fruitful bough by a well; [whose] branches run over the wall:
Josef is ‚'n vrugbare tak, ‚'n vrugbare tak by ‚'n fontein; waarvan die takke oor die muur loop:

The archers have sorely grieved him, and shot [at him], and hated him:
Die boogskutters het hom bitter gemaak, en geskiet, en hom gehaat:
24
But his bow abode in strength, and the arms of his hands were made strong by the hands of the mighty [God] of Jacob; (from thence [is] the shepherd, the stone of Israel:)
Maar sy boog het in sterkte gebly, en die arms van sy hande is versterk deur die hande van die magtige God van Jakob; (van daar is die herder, die steen van Israel:)
25
[Even] by the God of thy father, who shall help thee; and by the Almighty, who shall bless thee with blessings of heaven above, blessings of the deep that lieth under, blessings of the breasts, and of the womb:
Deur die God van jou vader, wat jou sal help; en deur die Almagtige, wat jou sal seën met seëninge van die hemel van bo, seëninge van die diepte wat daaronder lê, seëninge van die borste, en van die moederskoot:

The blessings of thy father have prevailed above the blessings of my progenitors unto the utmost bound of the everlasting hills: they shall be on the head of Joseph, and on the crown of the head of him that was separate from his brethren.
Die seëninge van jou vader het die seëninge van my voorvaders oortref tot die uiterste grens van die ewige heuwels: hulle sal wees op die hoof van Josef, en op die kroon van die hoof van hom wat afgesonder is van sy broers.

Benjamin shall ravin [as] a wolf: in the morning he shall devour the prey, and at night he shall divide the spoil.
Benjamin sal soos ’n wolf verskeur: in die môre sal hy die prooi verslind, en in die aand sal hy die buit verdeel.
28
All these [are] the twelve tribes of Israel: and this [is it] that their father spake unto them, and blessed them; every one according to his blessing he blessed them.
Al hierdie is die twaalf stamme van Israel: en dit is dit wat hulle vader tot hulle gespreek het, en hulle geseën het; elkeen volgens sy seën het hy hulle geseën.

And he charged them, and said unto them, I am to be gathered unto my people: bury me with my fathers in the cave that [is] in the field of Ephron the Hittite,
En hy het hulle beveel, en tot hulle gesê, Ek word by my volk versamel: begrawe my by my vaders in die spelonk wat in die veld van Efron die Hetiet is,

In the cave that [is] in the field of Machpelah, which [is] before Mamre, in the land of Canaan, which Abraham bought with the field of Ephron the Hittite for a possession of a buryingplace.
In die spelonk wat in die veld van Magpela is, wat voor Mamre is, in die land Kanaän, wat Abraham gekoop het met die veld van Efron die Hetiet tot ’n besitting van ’n begraafplaas.

There they buried Abraham and Sarah his wife; there they buried Isaac and Rebekah his wife; and there I buried Leah.
Daar het hulle Abraham en Sara sy vrou begrawe; daar het hulle Isak en Rebekka sy vrou begrawe; en daar het ek Lea begrawe.
32
The purchase of the field and of the cave that [is] therein [was] from the children of Heth.
Die koop van die veld en van die spelonk wat daarin is, was van die kinders van Het.
33
And when Jacob had made an end of commanding his sons, he gathered up his feet into the bed, and yielded up the ghost, and was gathered unto his people.
En toe Jakob klaar was met die bevel aan sy seuns, het hy sy voete in die bed opgetrek, en die asem uitgeblaas, en is by sy volk versamel.
