1
Come, and let us return unto the LORD: for he hath torn, and he will heal us; he hath smitten, and he will bind us up.
Kom, en laat ons tot die HERE terugkeer: want Hy het verskeur, en Hy sal ons genees; Hy het geslaan, en Hy sal ons verbind.
2
After two days will he revive us: in the third day he will raise us up, and we shall live in his sight.
Ná twee dae sal Hy ons lewendig maak: op die derde dag sal Hy ons oprig, en ons sal voor Hom lewe.

Then shall we know, [if] we follow on to know the LORD: his going forth is prepared as the morning; and he shall come unto us as the rain, as the latter [and] former rain unto the earth.
Dan sal ons weet, as ons voortgaan om die HERE te ken: sy uitgaan is voorberei soos die môre; en Hy sal tot ons kom soos die reën, soos die laatreën wat die aarde natmaak.

O Ephraim, what shall I do unto thee? O Judah, what shall I do unto thee? for your goodness [is] as a morning cloud, and as the early dew it goeth away.
o Efraim, wat sal ek aan jou doen? o Juda, wat sal ek aan jou doen? want julle goedheid is soos ’n môrewolk, en soos die vroeë dou wat weggaan.

Therefore have I hewed [them] by the prophets; I have slain them by the words of my mouth: and thy judgments [are as] the light [that] goeth forth.
Daarom het ek hulle deur die profete afgekap; ek het hulle gedood deur die woorde van my mond: en jou oordele is soos die lig wat uitgaan.

For I desired mercy, and not sacrifice; and the knowledge of God more than burnt offerings.
Want ek het barmhartigheid begeer, en nie offer nie; en die kennis van God meer as brandoffers.

But they like men have transgressed the covenant: there have they dealt treacherously against me.
Maar hulle soos mense het die verbond oortree: daar het hulle troueloos teen My gehandel.

Gilead [is] a city of them that work iniquity, [and is] polluted with blood.
Gílead is ’n stad van dié wat ongeregtigheid werk, en is besmet met bloed.

And as troops of robbers wait for a man, [so] the company of priests murder in the way by consent: for they commit lewdness.
En soos bendes manne wat lê en wag vir ’n man, so is die geselskap van priesters wat in die weg by gemeenskaplike toestemming moor: want hulle pleeg skandelikeheid.

I have seen an horrible thing in the house of Israel: there [is] the whoredom of Ephraim, Israel is defiled.
Ek het ‚'n aaklige ding in die huis van Israel gesien: daar is die hoerery van Efraim, Israel is verontreinig.

Also, O Judah, he hath set an harvest for thee, when I returned the captivity of my people.
Ook, o Juda, het Hy ‚'n oes vir jou aangestel, wanneer ek die gevangenisskap van my volk terugbring.
