Woe to Ariel, to Ariel, the city [where] David dwelt! add ye year to year; let them kill sacrifices.

Wee Ariel, tot Ariel, die stad waar Dawid gewoon het! voeg jaar by jaar; laat hulle die offers doodmaak.

Yet I will distress Ariel, and there shall be heaviness and sorrow: and it shall be unto me as Ariel.

Tog sal ek Ariel benoud maak, en daar sal treuring en smart wees; en dit sal vir my wees soos Ariel.

And I will camp against thee round about, and will lay siege against thee with a mount, and I will raise forts against thee.

En ek sal ’n kamp teen jou rondom opslaan, en sal jou met ’n beleëring beleër, en sal vestings teen jou oprig.

And thou shalt be brought down, [and] shalt speak out of the ground, and thy speech shall be low out of the dust, and thy voice shall be, as of one that hath a familiar spirit, out of the ground, and thy speech shall whisper out of the dust.

En jy sal neergebring word, en sal uit die grond spreek, en jou spraak sal laag uit die stof wees, en jou stem sal wees soos van een wat ‚'n gees van dooies het, uit die grond, en jou spraak sal uit die stof fluister.

Moreover the multitude of thy strangers shall be like small dust, and the multitude of the terrible ones [shall be] as chaff that passeth away: yea, it shall be at an instant suddenly.

Bowendien sal die menigte van jou vreemdelinge wees soos fyn stof, en die menigte van die vreeslikes soos kaf wat verbygaan: ja, dit sal in ‚'n oomblik skielik wees.

Thou shalt be visited of the LORD of hosts with thunder, and with earthquake, and great noise, with storm and tempest, and the flame of devouring fire.

Jy sal deur die HERE van leërskare met donder, en met aardbewing, en groot geraas, met storm en stormwind, en die vlam van verslindende vuur, besoek word.

And the multitude of all the nations that fight against Ariel, even all that fight against her and her munition, and that distress her, shall be as a dream of a night vision.

En die menigte van al die nasies wat veg teen Ariel, selfs almal wat teen haar en haar vesting veg, en wat haar benoud maak, sal wees soos ‚'n droom van ‚'n nagvisioen.

It shall even be as when an hungry [man] dreameth, and, behold, he eateth; but he awaketh, and his soul is empty: or as when a thirsty man dreameth, and, behold, he drinketh; but he awaketh, and, behold, [he is] faint, and his soul hath appetite: so shall the multitude of all the nations be, that fight against mount Zion.

Dit sal selfs wees soos wanneer ‚'n honger man droom, en kyk, hy eet; maar hy word wakker, en sy siel is leeg: of soos wanneer ‚'n dors man droom, en kyk, hy drink; maar hy word wakker, en kyk, hy is flou, en sy siel het begeerte: so sal die menigte van al die nasies wees, wat veg teen die berg Sion.

Stay yourselves, and wonder; cry ye out, and cry: they are drunken, but not with wine; they stagger, but not with strong drink.

Bly stil, en verwonder julle; roep uit, en skreeu: hulle is dronk, maar nie met wyn nie; hulle swaai, maar nie met sterk drank nie.

For the LORD hath poured out upon you the spirit of deep sleep, and hath closed your eyes: the prophets and your rulers, the seers hath he covered.

Want die HERE het ’n gees van diepe slaap op julle uitgestort, en het julle oë toegesluit: die profete en julle heersers, die sieneres het Hy bedek.

And the vision of all is become unto you as the words of a book that is sealed, which [men] deliver to one that is learned, saying, Read this, I pray thee: and he saith, I cannot; for it [is] sealed:

En die visioen van almal is vir julle geword soos die woorde van ’n boek wat verseël is, wat manne lewer aan een wat geleerd is, sê, Lees dit, ek bid jou: en hy sê, Ek kan nie; want dit is verseël:

And the book is delivered to him that is not learned, saying, Read this, I pray thee: and he saith, I am not learned.

En die boek word gelewer aan hom wat nie geleerd is nie, sê, Lees dit, ek bid jou: en hy sê, Ek is nie geleerd nie.

Wherefore the Lord said, Forasmuch as this people draw near [me] with their mouth, and with their lips do honour me, but have removed their heart far from me, and their fear toward me is taught by the precept of men:

Daarom het die Here gesê, Omdat hierdie volk naby My kom met hulle mond, en My met hulle lippe eer, maar hulle hart ver van My verwyder het, en hulle vrees teenoor My deur die gebod van mense geleer is:

Therefore, behold, I will proceed to do a marvellous work among this people, [even] a marvellous work and a wonder: for the wisdom of their wise [men] shall perish, and the understanding of their prudent [men] shall be hid.

Daarom, kyk, ek sal voortgaan om ‚'n wonderlike werk onder hierdie volk te doen, selfs ‚'n wonderlike werk en ‚'n wonder: want die wysheid van hulle wyse manne sal vergaan, en die verstand van hulle verstandiges sal verberg word.

Woe unto them that seek deep to hide their counsel from the LORD, and their works are in the dark, and they say, Who seeth us? and who knoweth us?

Wee hulle wat diep soek om hulle raad vir die HERE te verberg, en hulle werke is in die donker, en hulle sê, Wie sien ons? en wie ken ons?

Surely your turning of things upside down shall be esteemed as the potter’s clay: for shall the work say of him that made it, He made me not? or shall the thing framed say of him that framed it, He had no understanding?

Sekerlik word julle dinge omgekeer: sal die pottebakker gereken word soos die klei? want sal die werk sê van hom wat dit gemaak het, Hy het my nie gemaak nie? of sal die ding wat geformeer is, sê van hom wat dit geformeer het, Hy het geen verstand nie?

[Is] it not yet a very little while, and Lebanon shall be turned into a fruitful field, and the fruitful field shall be esteemed as a forest?

Is dit nie nog ’n baie klein rukkie, en Líbanon sal in ’n vrugbare veld verander word, en die vrugbare veld sal gereken word as ’n woud nie?

And in that day shall the deaf hear the words of the book, and the eyes of the blind shall see out of obscurity, and out of darkness.

En in daardie dag sal die dowes die woorde van die boek hoor, en die oë van die blindes sal uit die dimheid, en uit die duisternis sien.

The meek also shall increase [their] joy in the LORD, and the poor among men shall rejoice in the Holy One of Israel.

Die nederiges sal ook hulle vreugde in die HERE vermeerder, en die armes onder die mens sal juig in die Heilige van Israel.

For the terrible one is brought to nought, and the scorner is consumed, and all that watch for iniquity are cut off:

Want die vreeslike is tot niet gebring, en die spotter is verteer, en almal wat vir ongeregtigheid waak, is afgesny;

That make a man an offender for a word, and lay a snare for him that reproveth in the gate, and turn aside the just for a thing of nought.

Wat ’n mens tot sonde maak vir ’n woord, en ’n strik lê vir hom wat in die poort bestraf, en die regverdige vir ’n ding van niks omkeer.

Therefore thus saith the LORD, who redeemed Abraham, concerning the house of Jacob, Jacob shall not now be ashamed, neither shall his face now wax pale.

Daarom so sê die HERE, wat Abraham verlos het, aangaande die huis van Jakob, Jakob sal nou nie meer beskaamd word nie, en sy aangesig sal nou nie meer bleek word nie.

But when he seeth his children, the work of mine hands, in the midst of him, they shall sanctify my name, and sanctify the Holy One of Jacob, and shall fear the God of Israel.

Maar wanneer hy sy kinders sien, die werk van my hande, in die midde van hom, sal hulle my Naam heilig, en heilig die Heilige van Jakob, en sal die God van Israel vrees.

They also that erred in spirit shall come to understanding, and they that murmured shall learn doctrine.

Hulle ook wat dwaal in gees, sal tot verstand kom, en hulle wat murmureer, sal leer.
