Hear ye the words of this covenant, and speak unto the men of Judah, and to the inhabitants of Jerusalem;
Hoor julle die woorde van hierdie verbond, en spreek tot die manne van Juda, en tot die inwoners van Jérusalem;

And say thou unto them, Thus saith the LORD God of Israel; Cursed [be] the man that obeyeth not the words of this covenant,
En sê tot hulle, So sê die HERE God van Israel; Vervloek is die man wat nie die woorde van hierdie verbond gehoorsaam nie,
4
Which I commanded your fathers in the day [that] I brought them forth out of the land of Egypt, from the iron furnace, saying, Obey my voice, and do them, according to all which I command you: so shall ye be my people, and I will be your God:
Wat ek julle vaders beveel het in die dag toe ek hulle uit die land van Egipte, uit die yster oond, uitgebring het, sê, Gehoorsaam my stem, en doen hulle, volgens alles wat ek julle beveel: so sal julle my volk wees, en ek sal julle God wees:

That I may perform the oath which I have sworn unto your fathers, to give them a land flowing with milk and honey, as [it is] this day. Then answered I, and said, So be it, O LORD.
Dat ek die eed mag uitvoer wat ek tot julle vaders gesweer het, om hulle ’n land te gee wat met melk en heuning vloei, soos dit vandag is. Toe het ek geantwoord, en gesê, So wees dit, o HERE.

Then the LORD said unto me, Proclaim all these words in the cities of Judah, and in the streets of Jerusalem, saying, Hear ye the words of this covenant, and do them.
Toe het die HERE tot my gesê, Roep al hierdie woorde uit in die stede van Juda, en in die strate van Jérusalem, sê, Hoor die woorde van hierdie verbond, en doen hulle.

For I earnestly protested unto your fathers in the day [that] I brought them up out of the land of Egypt, [even] unto this day, rising early and protesting, saying, Obey my voice.
Want ek het julle vaders ywerig vermaan in die dag toe ek hulle uit die land van Egipte opgebring het, selfs tot hierdie dag, vroeg opstaande en vermanende, sê, Gehoorsaam my stem.

Yet they obeyed not, nor inclined their ear, but walked every one in the imagination of their evil heart: therefore I will bring upon them all the words of this covenant, which I commanded [them] to do; but they did [them] not.
Tog het hulle nie gehoor nie, en nie hulle oor geneig nie, maar elkeen in die verbeelding van hulle boos hart gewandel: daarom sal ek oor hulle al die woorde van hierdie verbond bring, wat ek hulle beveel het om te doen; maar hulle het dit nie gedoen nie.

And the LORD said unto me, A conspiracy is found among the men of Judah, and among the inhabitants of Jerusalem.
En die HERE het tot my gesê, Daar is ’n sameswering gevind onder die manne van Juda, en onder die inwoners van Jérusalem.
10
They are turned back to the iniquities of their forefathers, which refused to hear my words; and they went after other gods to serve them: the house of Israel and the house of Judah have broken my covenant which I made with their fathers.
Hulle is teruggekeer na die ongeregtighede van hulle voorvaders, wat geweier het om my woorde te hoor; en hulle het agter ander gode aangegaan om hulle te dien: die huis van Israel en die huis van Juda het my verbond verbreek wat ek met hulle vaders gemaak het.

Therefore thus saith the LORD, Behold, I will bring evil upon them, which they shall not be able to escape; and though they shall cry unto me, I will not hearken unto them.
Daarom so sê die HERE, Kyk, ek sal kwaad oor hulle bring, waarvan hulle nie sal kan ontvlug nie; en alhoewel hulle tot My roep, sal ek nie na hulle luister nie.

Then shall the cities of Judah and inhabitants of Jerusalem go, and cry unto the gods unto whom they offer incense: but they shall not save them at all in the time of their trouble.
Dan sal die stede van Juda en die inwoners van Jérusalem gaan, en roep tot die gode aan wie hulle wierook brand: maar hulle sal hulle glad nie in die tyd van hulle benoudheid red nie.

For [according to] the number of thy cities were thy gods, O Judah; and [according to] the number of the streets of Jerusalem have ye set up altars to [that] shameful thing, [even] altars to burn incense unto Baal.
Want volgens die getal van jou stede was jou gode, o Juda; en volgens die getal van die strate van Jérusalem het julle altare gestel tot die skaamtelike ding, selfs altare om wierook aan Baäl te brand.

Therefore pray not thou for this people, neither lift up a cry or prayer for them: for I will not hear [them] in the time that they cry unto me for their trouble.
Daarom bid nie vir hierdie volk nie, en hef nie ‚'n geroep of gebed vir hulle op nie: want ek sal nie in die tyd van hulle geroep tot My in hulle benoudheid hoor nie.

What hath my beloved to do in mine house, [seeing] she hath wrought lewdness with many, and the holy flesh is passed from thee? when thou doest evil, then thou rejoicest.
Wat het my geliefde in my huis te doen, aangesien sy baie verfoeilikhede met baie gepleeg het? en die heilige vlees is van jou af verbygegaan? wanneer jy kwaad doen, dan juig jy.

The LORD called thy name, A green olive tree, fair, [and] of goodly fruit: with the noise of a great tumult he hath kindled fire upon it, and the branches of it are broken.
Die HERE het jou naam genoem, ‚'n groen olyfboom, mooi, en van goeie vrugte: met die geraas van ‚'n groot tumult het Hy die vuur daarop aangesteek, en die takke daarvan is verbreek.

For the LORD of hosts, that planted thee, hath pronounced evil against thee, for the evil of the house of Israel and of the house of Judah, which they have done against themselves to provoke me to anger in offering incense unto Baal.
Want die HERE van leërskare, wat jou geplant het, het kwaad teen jou uitgespreek, om die kwaad van die huis van Israel en van die huis van Juda, wat hulle teen hulleself gedoen het om My te terg deur wierook aan Baäl te brand.

And the LORD hath given me knowledge [of it], and I know [it]: then thou shewedst me their doings.
En die HERE het dit aan my bekend gemaak, en ek het dit geken: toe het U my hulle doenings gewys.
19
But I [was] like a lamb [or] an ox [that] is brought to the slaughter; and I knew not that they had devised devices against me, [saying], Let us destroy the tree with the fruit thereof, and let us cut him off from the land of the living, that his name may be no more remembered.
Maar ek was soos ’n lam of ’n os wat tot die slagting gebring word; en ek het nie geweet dat hulle teen my beraadslaag het nie, sê, Laat ons die boom met sy vrug vernietig, en hom uit die land van die lewendes afsny, dat sy naam nie meer onthou word nie.

But, O LORD of hosts, that judgest righteously, that triest the reins and the heart, let me see thy vengeance on them: for unto thee have I revealed my cause.
Maar, o HERE van leërskare, wat regverdig oordeel, wat die niere en die hart toets, laat my u wraak op hulle sien: want tot U het ek my saak openbaar gemaak.

Therefore thus saith the LORD of the men of Anathoth, that seek thy life, saying, Prophesy not in the name of the LORD, that thou die not by our hand:
Daarom so sê die HERE aangaande die manne van Anatot, wat jou lewe soek, sê, Profeteer nie in die Naam van die HERE nie, dat jy nie deur ons hand sterwe nie:

Therefore thus saith the LORD of hosts, Behold, I will punish them: the young men shall die by the sword; their sons and their daughters shall die by famine:
Daarom so sê die HERE van leërskare, Kyk, ek sal hulle besoek: die jongmanne sal deur die swaard sterwe; hulle seuns en hulle dogters sal deur die hongersnood sterwe:

And there shall be no remnant of them: for I will bring evil upon the men of Anathoth, [even] the year of their visitation.
En daar sal geen oorblyfsel van hulle wees nie: want ek sal kwaad bring op die manne van Anatot, selfs die jaar van hulle besoeking.
