At the same time, saith the LORD, will I be the God of all the families of Israel, and they shall be my people.

In dieselfde tyd, sê die HERE, sal ek die God wees van al die gesinne van Israel, en hulle sal my volk wees.

Thus saith the LORD, The people [which were] left of the sword found grace in the wilderness; [even] Israel, when I went to cause him to rest.

So sê die HERE, Die volk wat van die swaard oorbly, het guns in die wildernis gevind; selfs Israel, toe ek gegaan het om hom te laat rus.

The LORD hath appeared of old unto me, [saying], Yea, I have loved thee with an everlasting love: therefore with lovingkindness have I drawn thee.

Die HERE het van ver af aan my verskyn, sê, Ja, ek het jou met ’n ewige liefde liefgehad: daarom het ek jou met liefdevolle goedertierenheid getrek.

Again I will build thee, and thou shalt be built, O virgin of Israel: thou shalt again be adorned with thy tabrets, and shalt go forth in the dances of them that make merry.

Ek sal jou weer bou, en jy sal gebou word, o maagd van Israel: jy sal weer versier word met jou tamboeryne, en sal uitgaan in die danse van dié wat speel.

Thou shalt yet plant vines upon the mountains of Samaria: the planters shall plant, and shall eat [them] as common things.

Jy sal weer wingerde plant op die berge van Samaría: die planters sal plant, en die vrug daarvan eet.

For there shall be a day, [that] the watchmen upon the mount Ephraim shall cry, Arise ye, and let us go up to Zion unto the LORD our God.

Want daar sal ‚'n dag wees, dat die wagters op die berg Efraim sal roep, Staan op, en laat ons opgaan na Sion tot die HERE onse God.

For thus saith the LORD; Sing with gladness for Jacob, and shout among the chief of the nations: publish ye, praise ye, and say, O LORD, save thy people, the remnant of Israel.

Want so sê die HERE; Sing met blydskap vir Jakob, en roep onder die hoof van die nasies: publiseer julle, prys julle, en sê, O HERE, red u volk, die oorblyfsel van Israel.

Behold, I will bring them from the north country, and gather them from the coasts of the earth, [and] with them the blind and the lame, the woman with child and her that travaileth with child together: a great company shall return thither.

Kyk, ek sal hulle bring uit die noordelike land, en hulle bymekaarmaak van die kante van die aarde, en met hulle die blindes en die lammes, die vrou wat swanger is en sy wat in barensnood is, saam: ‚'n groot geselskap sal daarheen terugkeer.

They shall come with weeping, and with supplications will I lead them: I will cause them to walk by the rivers of waters in a straight way, wherein they shall not stumble: for I am a father to Israel, and Ephraim [is] my firstborn.

Hulle sal met geween kom, en met smekinge sal ek hulle lei: ek sal hulle by die riviere van waters laat gaan in ‚'n reguit weg, waarin hulle nie sal struikel nie: want ek is ‚'n vader vir Israel, en Efraim is my eersgeborene.

Hear the word of the LORD, O ye nations, and declare [it] in the isles afar off, and say, He that scattered Israel will gather him, and keep him, as a shepherd [doth] his flock.

Hoor die woord van die HERE, o julle nasies, en verklaar dit in die eilande ver weg, en sê, Hy wat Israel verstrooi het, sal hom bymekaarmaak, en hom bewaar, soos ’n herder sy kudde.

For the LORD hath redeemed Jacob, and ransomed him from the hand of [him that was] stronger than he.

Want die HERE het Jakob losgekoop, en hom verlos uit die hand van hom wat sterker was as hy.

Therefore they shall come and sing in the height of Zion, and shall flow together to the goodness of the LORD, for wheat, and for wine, and for oil, and for the young of the flock and of the herd: and their soul shall be as a watered garden; and they shall not sorrow any more at all.

Daarom sal hulle kom en sing in die hoogte van Sion, en sal saamvloei na die goedheid van die HERE, vir koring, en vir wyn, en vir olie, en vir die jonges van die kudde en van die trop: en hulle siel sal wees soos ‚'n besproeide tuin; en hulle sal nie meer treurig wees nie.

Then shall the virgin rejoice in the dance, both young men and old together: for I will turn their mourning into joy, and will comfort them, and make them rejoice from their sorrow.

Dan sal die maagd in die dans juig, beide jongmanne en bejaardes saam: want ek sal hulle rou in vreugde verander, en hulle troos, en hulle vrolik maak van hulle smart.

And I will satiate the soul of the priests with fatness, and my people shall be satisfied with my goodness, saith the LORD.

En ek sal die siel van die priesters met vet versadig, en my volk sal met my goedheid versadig word, sê die HERE.

Thus saith the LORD; A voice was heard in Ramah, lamentation, [and] bitter weeping; Rahel weeping for her children refused to be comforted for her children, because they [were] not.

So sê die HERE; ’n Stem is in Rama gehoor, weeklag, en bitter geween; Ragel ween vir haar kinders, en weier om getroos te word vir haar kinders, omdat hulle nie is nie.

Thus saith the LORD; Refrain thy voice from weeping, and thine eyes from tears: for thy work shall be rewarded, saith the LORD; and they shall come again from the land of the enemy.

So sê die HERE; Weerhou jou stem van geween, en jou oë van trane: want jou werk sal beloon word, sê die HERE; en hulle sal uit die land van die vyand terugkeer.

And there is hope in thine end, saith the LORD, that thy children shall come again to their own border.

En daar is hoop in jou einde, sê die HERE, dat jou kinders sal terugkeer na hulle eie grens.

I have surely heard Ephraim bemoaning himself [thus]; Thou hast chastised me, and I was chastised, as a bullock unaccustomed [to the yoke]: turn thou me, and I shall be turned; for thou [art] the LORD my God.

Ek het sekerlik Efraim gehoor wat homself bekla, sê, U het my getugtig, en ek is getugtig soos ’n bul wat nie gewoond is nie: bekeer my, en ek sal bekeer word; want U is die HERE my God.

Surely after that I was turned, I repented; and after that I was instructed, I smote upon [my] thigh: I was ashamed, yea, even confounded, because I did bear the reproach of my youth.

Sekerlik nadat ek bekeer is, het ek berou gehad; en nadat ek onderrig is, het ek op my dy geslaan: ek is beskaamd, ja, selfs verleë, omdat ek die smaad van my jeug gedra het.

[Is] Ephraim my dear son? [is he] a pleasant child? for since I spake against him, I do earnestly remember him still: therefore my bowels are troubled for him; I will surely have mercy upon him, saith the LORD.

Is Efraim my dierbare seun? is hy ’n aangename kind? want sedert ek teen hom gespreek het, onthou ek hom nog ywerig: daarom is my ingewande vir hom ontroerd; ek sal sekerlik medelye met hom hê, sê die HERE.

Set thee up waymarks, make thee high heaps: set thine heart toward the highway, [even] the way [which] thou wentest: turn again, O virgin of Israel, turn again to these thy cities.

Sit vir jou wegwysers op, maak vir jou hoë hope: sit jou hart na die snelweg, die weg wat jy gegaan het: keer terug, o maagd van Israel, keer terug na hierdie jou stede.

How long wilt thou go about, O thou backsliding daughter? for the LORD hath created a new thing in the earth, A woman shall compass a man.

Hoe lank sal jy heen en weer gaan, o jy afvallige dogter? want die HERE het ‚'n nuwe ding in die aarde geskep: ‚'n vrou sal ‚'n man omring.

Thus saith the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel; As yet they shall use this speech in the land of Judah and in the cities thereof, when I shall bring again their captivity; The LORD bless thee, O habitation of justice, [and] mountain of holiness.

So sê die HERE van leërskare, die God van Israel; Hulle sal nog hierdie woord in die land van Juda en in die stede daarvan spreek, wanneer ek hulle gevangenisskap terugbring; Die HERE seën jou, o woning van geregtigheid, en berg van heiligheid.

And there shall dwell in Judah itself, and in all the cities thereof together, husbandmen, and they [that] go forth with flocks.

En daar sal in Juda, en in al die stede daarvan saam, landbouers woon, en dié wat met troppe trek.

For I have satiated the weary soul, and I have replenished every sorrowful soul.

Want ek het die moeg siel versadig, en ek het elke treurige siel aangevul.

Upon this I awaked, and beheld; and my sleep was sweet unto me.

Hierop het ek wakker geword, en het gesien; en my slaap was soet vir my.

Behold, the days come, saith the LORD, that I will sow the house of Israel and the house of Judah with the seed of man, and with the seed of beast.

Kyk, die dae kom, sê die HERE, dat ek die huis van Israel en die huis van Juda met die saad van mens, en met die saad van dier sal besaai.

And it shall come to pass, [that] like as I have watched over them, to pluck up, and to break down, and to throw down, and to destroy, and to afflict; so will I watch over them, to build, and to plant, saith the LORD.

En dit sal gebeur, dat soos ek oor hulle gewaak het om uit te ruk, en om af te breek, en om om te werp, en om te vernietig, en om te teister; so sal ek oor hulle waak om te bou, en om te plant, sê die HERE.

In those days they shall say no more, The fathers have eaten a sour grape, and the children’s teeth are set on edge.

In daardie dae sal hulle nie meer sê, Die vaders het suur druiwe geëet, en die kinders se tande is stomp nie.

But every one shall die for his own iniquity: every man that eateth the sour grape, his teeth shall be set on edge.

Maar elkeen sal vir sy eie ongeregtigheid sterwe: elke mens wat die suur druiwe eet, sy tande sal stomp wees.

Behold, the days come, saith the LORD, that I will make a new covenant with the house of Israel, and with the house of Judah:

Kyk, die dae kom, sê die HERE, dat ek ’n nuwe verbond sal maak met die huis van Israel, en met die huis van Juda:

Not according to the covenant that I made with their fathers in the day [that] I took them by the hand to bring them out of the land of Egypt; which my covenant they brake, although I was an husband unto them, saith the LORD:

Nie volgens die verbond wat ek met hulle vaders gemaak het in die dag toe ek hulle by die hand geneem het om hulle uit die land van Egipte uit te bring nie; welke verbond hulle verbreek het, alhoewel ek ’n man vir hulle was, sê die HERE:

But this [shall be] the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel; After those days, saith the LORD, I will put my law in their inward parts, and write it in their hearts; and will be their God, and they shall be my people.

Maar dit is die verbond wat ek met die huis van Israel sal maak; Ná daardie dae, sê die HERE, sal ek my wet in hulle binneste lê, en dit in hulle harte skrywe; en ek sal hulle God wees, en hulle sal my volk wees.

And they shall teach no more every man his neighbour, and every man his brother, saying, Know the LORD: for they shall all know me, from the least of them unto the greatest of them, saith the LORD: for I will forgive their iniquity, and I will remember their sin no more.

En hulle sal nie meer elkeen sy naaste, en elkeen sy broer leer, sê, Ken die HERE nie: want hulle sal My almal ken, van die geringste van hulle af selfs tot die grootste van hulle, sê die HERE: want ek sal hulle ongeregtigheid vergewe, en ek sal hulle sonde nie meer onthou nie.

Thus saith the LORD, which giveth the sun for a light by day, [and] the ordinances of the moon and of the stars for a light by night, which divideth the sea when the waves thereof roar; The LORD of hosts [is] his name:

So sê die HERE, wat die son gee vir ’n lig by dag, en die ordonnanse van die maan en van die sterre vir ’n lig by nag, wat die see verdeel wanneer die golwe daarvan bruis; Die HERE van leërskare is sy Naam:

If those ordinances depart from before me, saith the LORD, [then] the seed of Israel also shall cease from being a nation before me for ever.

As daardie ordonnanse voor My weggaan, sê die HERE, dan sal die saad van Israel ook ophou om ’n nasie voor My te wees vir ewig.

Thus saith the LORD; If heaven above can be measured, and the foundations of the earth searched out beneath, I will also cast off all the seed of Israel for all that they have done, saith the LORD.

So sê die HERE; As die hemel bo gemeet kan word, en die fondamente van die aarde daaronder nagespeur kan word, dan sal ek ook al die saad van Israel verwerp vir al wat hulle gedoen het, sê die HERE.

Behold, the days come, saith the LORD, that the city shall be built to the LORD from the tower of Hananeel unto the gate of the corner.

Kyk, die dae kom, sê die HERE, dat die stad gebou sal word tot die HERE van die toring van Hananel af tot by die poort van die hoek.

And the measuring line shall yet go forth over against it upon the hill Gareb, and shall compass about to Goath.

En die meetsnoer sal verder uitgaan reguit daaroor tot by die heuwel Gareb, en sal na Goa omgaan.

And the whole valley of the dead bodies, and of the ashes, and all the fields unto the brook of Kidron, unto the corner of the horse gate toward the east, [shall be] holy unto the LORD; it shall not be plucked up, nor thrown down any more for ever.

En die hele vallei van die dooie liggame, en van die as, en al die velde tot by die spruit Kidron, tot by die hoek van die perdpoort na die ooste, sal heilig wees tot die HERE; dit sal nie meer uitgeruk of afgebreek word vir ewig nie.
