The word that came to Jeremiah from the LORD in the tenth year of Zedekiah king of Judah, which [was] the eighteenth year of Nebuchadrezzar.
Die woord wat tot Jeremia van die HERE gekom het in die tiende jaar van Sedekía koning van Juda, wat die agttiende jaar van Nebukadrésar was.

For then the king of Babylon’s army besieged Jerusalem: and Jeremiah the prophet was shut up in the court of the prison, which [was] in the king of Judah’s house.
Want toe het die leër van die koning van Babel Jérusalem beleër: en Jeremia die profeet was opgesluit in die voorhof van die gevangenis, wat in die huis van die koning van Juda was.

For Zedekiah king of Judah had shut him up, saying, Wherefore dost thou prophesy, and say, Thus saith the LORD, Behold, I will give this city into the hand of the king of Babylon, and he shall take it;
Want Sedekía koning van Juda het hom opgesluit, sê, Waarom profeteer jy, en sê, So sê die HERE, Kyk, ek sal hierdie stad in die hand van die koning van Babel oorgee, en hy sal dit inneem;

And Zedekiah king of Judah shall not escape out of the hand of the Chaldeans, but shall surely be delivered into the hand of the king of Babylon, and shall speak with him mouth to mouth, and his eyes shall behold his eyes;
En Sedekía koning van Juda sal nie uit die hand van die Chaldeërs ontvlug nie, maar sal sekerlik in die hand van die koning van Babel oorgegee word, en sal met hom mond tot mond praat, en sy oë sal sy oë sien;

And he shall lead Zedekiah to Babylon, and there shall he be until I visit him, saith the LORD: though ye fight with the Chaldeans, ye shall not prosper?
En hy sal Sedekía na Babel lei, en daar sal hy wees totdat ek hom besoek, sê die HERE: alhoewel julle teen die Chaldeërs veg, sal julle nie seëvier nie.

And Jeremiah said, The word of the LORD came unto me, saying,
En Jeremia het gesê, Die woord van die HERE het tot my gekom, sê,

Behold, Hanameel the son of Shallum thine uncle shall come unto thee, saying, Buy thee my field that [is] in Anathoth: for the right of redemption [is] thine to buy [it].
Kyk, Hanámeël die seun van Sallum jou oom sal tot jou kom, sê, Koop my veld wat in Anatot is: want die reg van verlossing is joune om dit te koop.

So Hanameel mine uncle’s son came to me in the court of the prison according to the word of the LORD, and said unto me, Buy my field, I pray thee, that [is] in Anathoth, which [is] in the country of Benjamin: for the right of inheritance [is] thine, and the redemption [is] thine; buy [it] for thyself. Then I knew that this [was] the word of the LORD.
So het Hanámeël die seun van my oom volgens die woord van die HERE tot my in die voorhof van die gevangenis gekom, en tot my gesê, Koop my veld, ek bid jou, wat in Anatot is, wat in die land van Benjamin is: want die reg van erfenis is joune, en die verlossing is joune; koop dit vir jouself. Toe het ek geweet dat dit die woord van die HERE was.

And I bought the field of Hanameel my uncle’s son, that [was] in Anathoth, and weighed him the money, [even] seventeen shekels of silver.
En ek het die veld van Hanámeël die seun van my oom gekoop, wat in Anatot was, en het hom die geld afgeweeg, selfs sewentien sikkels silwer.

And I subscribed the evidence, and sealed [it], and took witnesses, and weighed [him] the money in the balances.
En ek het dit in die brief geskrywe, en dit verseël, en getuies geneem, en die geld in die skale afgeweeg.

So I took the evidence of the purchase, [both] that which was sealed [according] to the law and custom, and that which was open:
So het ek die bewys van die koop geneem, beide dit wat verseël was volgens die wet en die gebruik, en dit wat oop was:

And I gave the evidence of the purchase unto Baruch the son of Neriah, the son of Maaseiah, in the sight of Hanameel mine uncle’s [son], and in the presence of the witnesses that subscribed the book of the purchase, before all the Jews that sat in the court of the prison.
En ek het die bewys van die koop aan Barug die seun van Nería, die seun van Maäseja, gegee, in die oë van Hanámeël my oom se seun, en in die oë van die getuies wat die bewys van die koop onderteken het, voor al die Jode wat in die voorhof van die gevangenis gesit het.

And I charged Baruch before them, saying,
En ek het Barug voor hulle beveel, sê,
14
Thus saith the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel; Take these evidences, this evidence of the purchase, both which is sealed, and this evidence which is open; and put them in an earthen vessel, that they may continue many days.
So sê die HERE van leërskare, die God van Israel; Neem hierdie bewyse, hierdie bewys van die koop, beide dit wat verseël is, en hierdie bewys wat oop is; en sit hulle in ’n erde vat, dat hulle baie dae mag bly.

For thus saith the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel; Houses and fields and vineyards shall be possessed again in this land.
Want so sê die HERE van leërskare, die God van Israel; Huise en velde en wingerde sal weer in hierdie land gekoop word.
16
Now when I had delivered the evidence of the purchase unto Baruch the son of Neriah, I prayed unto the LORD, saying,
Nou toe ek die bewys van die koop aan Barug die seun van Nería gegee het, het ek tot die HERE gebid, sê,
17
Ah Lord GOD! behold, thou hast made the heaven and the earth by thy great power and stretched out arm, [and] there is nothing too hard for thee:
Ag Here GOD! kyk, U het die hemel en die aarde gemaak deur u groot mag en uitgestrekte arm, en daar is niks te swaar vir U nie:
18
Thou shewest lovingkindness unto thousands, and recompensest the iniquity of the fathers into the bosom of their children after them: the Great, the Mighty God, the LORD of hosts, [is] his name,
U toon liefdevolle goedertierenheid aan duisende, en vergoed die ongeregtigheid van die vaders in die boesem van hulle kinders ná hulle: die groot, die magtige God, die HERE van leërskare, is sy Naam,

Great in counsel, and mighty in work: for thine eyes [are] open upon all the ways of the sons of men: to give every one according to his ways, and according to the fruit of his doings:
Groot in raad, en magtig in werk: want u oë is oop op al die weë van die seuns van die mens: om aan elkeen volgens sy weë, en volgens die vrug van sy doenings te gee:
20
Which hast set signs and wonders in the land of Egypt, [even] unto this day, and in Israel, and among [other] men; and hast made thee a name, as at this day;
Wat tekens en wonders in die land van Egipte gestel het, selfs tot hierdie dag, en in Israel, en onder ander mense; en het U ‚'n naam gemaak, soos dit vandag is;
21
And hast brought forth thy people Israel out of the land of Egypt with signs, and with wonders, and with a strong hand, and with a stretched out arm, and with great terror;
En het u volk Israel uit die land van Egipte uitgebring met tekens, en met wonders, en met ‚'n sterk hand, en met ‚'n uitgestrekte arm, en met groot verskrikking;

And hast given them this land, which thou didst swear to their fathers to give them, a land flowing with milk and honey;
En het hulle hierdie land gegee, wat U tot hulle vaders gesweer het om hulle te gee, ‚'n land wat met melk en heuning vloei;
23
And they came in, and possessed it; but they obeyed not thy voice, neither walked in thy law; they have done nothing of all that thou commandedst them to do: therefore thou hast caused all this evil to come upon them:
En hulle het ingekom en dit besit; maar hulle het nie aan u stem gehoorsaam nie, en ook nie in u wet gewandel nie; hulle het niks van alles gedoen wat U hulle beveel het om te doen nie: daarom het U al hierdie kwaad oor hulle laat kom.

Behold the mounts, they are come unto the city to take it; and the city is given into the hand of the Chaldeans, that fight against it, because of the sword, and of the famine, and of the pestilence: and what thou hast spoken is come to pass; and, behold, thou seest [it].
Kyk die walwerke, hulle is tot by die stad gekom om dit in te neem; en die stad is oorgegee in die hand van die Chaldeërs, wat teen dit veg, vanweë die swaard, en van die hongersnood, en van die pes: en wat U gespreek het, is gebeur; en kyk, U sien dit.

And thou hast said unto me, O Lord GOD, Buy thee the field for money, and take witnesses; for the city is given into the hand of the Chaldeans.
En U het tot my gesê, o Here GOD, Koop die veld vir geld, en neem getuies; want die stad is in die hand van die Chaldeërs oorgegee.

Then came the word of the LORD unto Jeremiah, saying,
Toe het die woord van die HERE tot Jeremia gekom, sê,
27
Behold, I [am] the LORD, the God of all flesh: is there any thing too hard for me?
Kyk, ek is die HERE, die God van alle vlees: is daar enigiets te swaar vir My?
28
Therefore thus saith the LORD; Behold, I will give this city into the hand of the Chaldeans, and into the hand of Nebuchadrezzar king of Babylon, and he shall take it:
Daarom so sê die HERE; Kyk, ek sal hierdie stad in die hand van die Chaldeërs, en in die hand van Nebukadrésar koning van Babel, oorgee, en hy sal dit inneem:
29
And the Chaldeans, that fight against this city, shall come and set fire on this city, and burn it with the houses, upon whose roofs they have offered incense unto Baal, and poured out drink offerings unto other gods, to provoke me to anger.
En die Chaldeërs, wat teen hierdie stad veg, sal kom en hierdie stad met vuur aansteek, en dit verbrand, met die huise, op wie se dakke hulle wierook aan Baäl gebrand het, en drankoffers aan ander gode uitgegiet het, om My te terg.
30
For the children of Israel and the children of Judah have only done evil before me from their youth: for the children of Israel have only provoked me to anger with the work of their hands, saith the LORD.
Want die kinders van Israel en die kinders van Juda het van hulle jeug af net die kwaad in my oë gedoen: want die kinders van Israel het My net geterg met die werk van hulle hande, sê die HERE.

For this city hath been to me [as] a provocation of mine anger and of my fury from the day that they built it even unto this day; that I should remove it from before my face,
Want hierdie stad is vir My ‚'n provocasie van my toorn en van my grimmigheid van die dag af dat hulle dit gebou het selfs tot hierdie dag; dat ek dit van voor my aangesig moet wegneem,

Because of all the evil of the children of Israel and of the children of Judah, which they have done to provoke me to anger, they, their kings, their princes, their priests, and their prophets, and the men of Judah, and the inhabitants of Jerusalem.
Vanweë al die boosheid van die kinders van Israel en van die kinders van Juda, wat hulle gedoen het om My te terg, hulle, hulle konings, hulle vorstes, hulle priesters, en hulle profete, en die manne van Juda, en die inwoners van Jérusalem.
33
And they have turned unto me the back, and not the face: though I taught them, rising up early and teaching [them], yet they have not hearkened to receive instruction.
En hulle het hulle rug tot My gekeer, en nie hulle aangesig nie: alhoewel ek hulle geleer het, vroeg opstaande en leerende hulle, tog het hulle nie na die onderrig geluister om dit te ontvang nie.

But they set their abominations in the house, which is called by my name, to defile it.
Maar hulle het hulle gruwels in die huis gestel, wat by my Naam genoem is, om dit te verontreinig.
35
And they built the high places of Baal, which [are] in the valley of the son of Hinnom, to cause their sons and their daughters to pass through [the fire] unto Molech; which I commanded them not, neither came it into my mind, that they should do this abomination, to cause Judah to sin.
En hulle het die hoë plekke van Baäl gebou, wat in die vallei van die seun van Hinnom is, om hulle seuns en hulle dogters deur die vuur te laat gaan tot Moleg; wat ek hulle nie beveel het nie, en dit het nie in my hart opgekom nie, dat hulle hierdie gruwel sou doen, om Juda tot sonde te bring.
36
And now therefore thus saith the LORD, the God of Israel, concerning this city, whereof ye say, It shall be delivered into the hand of the king of Babylon by the sword, and by the famine, and by the pestilence;
En nou daarom so sê die HERE, die God van Israel, aangaande hierdie stad, waarvan julle sê, Dit sal in die hand van die koning van Babel oorgegee word deur die swaard, en deur die hongersnood, en deur die pes;
37
Behold, I will gather them out of all countries, whither I have driven them in mine anger, and in my fury, and in great wrath; and I will bring them again unto this place, and I will cause them to dwell safely:
Kyk, ek sal hulle bymekaarmaak uit al die lande waarheen ek hulle in my toorn, en in my grimmigheid, en in groot verontwaardiging, verdryf het; en ek sal hulle terugbring na hierdie plek, en ek sal hulle veilig laat woon:
38
And they shall be my people, and I will be their God:
En hulle sal my volk wees, en ek sal hulle God wees:
39
And I will give them one heart, and one way, that they may fear me for ever, for the good of them, and of their children after them:
En ek sal hulle een hart, en een weg gee, dat hulle My vir ewig mag vrees, tot die goeie van hulle, en van hulle kinders ná hulle:
40
And I will make an everlasting covenant with them, that I will not turn away from them, to do them good; but I will put my fear in their hearts, that they shall not depart from me.
En ek sal ‚'n ewige verbond met hulle maak, dat ek nie van hulle sal afwyk om hulle goed te doen nie; maar ek sal my vrees in hulle harte sit, dat hulle nie van My sal afwyk nie.
41
Yea, I will rejoice over them to do them good, and I will plant them in this land assuredly with my whole heart and with my whole soul.
Ja, ek sal oor hulle juig om hulle goed te doen, en ek sal hulle in hierdie land in waarheid plant met my hele hart en met my hele siel.
42
For thus saith the LORD; Like as I have brought all this great evil upon this people, so will I bring upon them all the good that I have promised them.
Want so sê die HERE; Soos ek al hierdie groot kwaad oor hierdie volk gebring het, so sal ek al die goeie wat ek oor hulle gespreek het, oor hulle bring.
43
And fields shall be bought in this land, whereof ye say, [It is] desolate without man or beast; it is given into the hand of the Chaldeans.
En velde sal gekoop word in hierdie land, waarvan julle sê, Dit is verwoes sonder mens of dier; dit is in die hand van die Chaldeërs oorgegee.
44
Men shall buy fields for money, and subscribe evidences, and seal [them], and take witnesses in the land of Benjamin, and in the places about Jerusalem, and in the cities of Judah, and in the cities of the mountains, and in the cities of the valley, and in the cities of the south: for I will cause their captivity to return, saith the LORD.
Manne sal velde koop vir geld, en bewyse skrywe, en hulle verseël, en getuies neem in die land van Benjamin, en in die plekke rondom Jérusalem, en in die stede van Juda, en in die stede van die berge, en in die stede van die vallei, en in die stede van die suide: want ek sal hulle gevangenisskap terugbring, sê die HERE.
