And it came to pass a long time after that the LORD had given rest unto Israel from all their enemies round about, that Joshua waxed old [and] stricken in age.
En dit het gebeur ná baie dae, nadat die HERE Israel rus gegee het van al hulle vyande rondom, dat Josua oud en vergevorderd in jare was.

And Joshua called for all Israel, [and] for their elders, and for their heads, and for their judges, and for their officers, and said unto them, I am old [and] stricken in age:
En Josua het die hele Israel, hulle ouderlinge, en hulle hoofde, en hulle regters, en hulle amptenare geroep, en tot hulle gesê, Ek is oud en vergevorderd in jare:

And ye have seen all that the LORD your God hath done unto all these nations because of you; for the LORD your God [is] he that hath fought for you.
En julle het alles gesien wat die HERE julle God aan al hierdie nasies voor julle aangesig gedoen het; want die HERE julle God is Hy wat vir julle geveg het.

Behold, I have divided unto you by lot these nations that remain, to be an inheritance for your tribes, from Jordan, with all the nations that I have cut off, even unto the great sea westward.
Kyk, ek het aan julle by die lot hierdie nasies wat oorbly, as erfenis verdeel vir julle stamme, van die Jordaan af, met al die nasies wat ek afgesny het, selfs tot by die groot see weswaarts.

And the LORD your God, he shall expel them from before you, and drive them from out of your sight; and ye shall possess their land, as the LORD your God hath promised unto you.
En die HERE julle God, Hy sal hulle voor julle uit verdrywe, en hulle uit julle aangesig uitdrywe; en julle moet hulle land in besit neem, soos die HERE julle God julle beloof het.

Be ye therefore very courageous to keep and to do all that is written in the book of the law of Moses, that ye turn not aside therefrom [to] the right hand or [to] the left;
Wees dus baie moedig om te sorgvuldig te doen en te bewaar alles wat in die boek van die wet van Moses geskrywe is, dat julle nie daarvan regs of links afwyk nie;

That ye come not among these nations, these that remain among you; neither make mention of the name of their gods, nor cause to swear [by them], neither serve them, nor bow yourselves unto them:
Dat julle nie onder hierdie nasies kom, wat van julle oorbly nie; en dat julle nie die naam van hulle gode noem, of by hulle sweer, of hulle dien, of julle voor hulle neerbuig nie:

But cleave unto the LORD your God, as ye have done unto this day.
Maar hou vas aan die HERE julle God, soos julle tot vandag toe gedoen het.
9
For the LORD hath driven out from before you great nations and strong: but [as for] you, no man hath been able to stand before you unto this day.
Want die HERE het groot nasies en sterk voor julle uit verdrywe: maar wat julle betref, niemand het voor julle standgehou tot vandag toe nie.
10
One man of you shall chase a thousand: for the LORD your God, he [it is] that fighteth for you, as he hath promised you.
Een man van julle moet ‚'n duisend agtervolg: want die HERE julle God, Hy is dit wat vir julle veg, soos Hy julle beloof het.
11
Take good heed therefore unto yourselves, that ye love the LORD your God.
Neem dus sorgvuldig ag vir julle siele, dat julle die HERE julle God liefhet.
12
Else if ye do in any wise go back, and cleave unto the remnant of these nations, [even] these that remain among you, and shall make marriages with them, and go in unto them, and they to you:
Anders, as julle enigsins terugdraai, en vashou aan die oorblyfsel van hierdie nasies, selfs hierdie wat onder julle oorbly, en met hulle trou, en by hulle ingaan, en hulle by julle:

Know for a certainty that the LORD your God will no more drive out [any of] these nations from before you; but they shall be snares and traps unto you, and scourges in your sides, and thorns in your eyes, until ye perish from off this good land which the LORD your God hath given you.
Weet sekerlik dat die HERE julle God nie meer hierdie nasies voor julle uit sal verdrywe nie; maar hulle moet vir julle snare en strikke wees, en dorings in julle sye, en prikkels in julle oë, totdat julle vergaan uit hierdie goeie land wat die HERE julle God julle gegee het.

And, behold, this day I [am] going the way of all the earth: and ye know in all your hearts and in all your souls, that not one thing hath failed of all the good things which the LORD your God spake concerning you; all are come to pass unto you, [and] not one thing hath failed thereof.
En kyk, ek gaan vandag die pad van die hele aarde: en julle weet in julle hele harte en in julle hele siele, dat nie een ding gefaal het van al die goeie dinge wat die HERE julle God aangaande julle gespreek het nie; alles is aan julle vervul, en nie een ding daarvan het gefaal nie.

Therefore it shall come to pass, [that] as all good things are come upon you, which the LORD your God promised you; so shall the LORD bring upon you all evil things, until he have destroyed you from off this good land which the LORD your God hath given you.
Daarom moet dit gebeur, dat soos al die goeie dinge oor julle gekom het, wat die HERE julle God julle beloof het; so sal die HERE al die bose dinge oor julle bring, totdat Hy julle vernietig het uit hierdie goeie land wat die HERE julle God julle gegee het.

When ye have transgressed the covenant of the LORD your God, which he commanded you, and have gone and served other gods, and bowed yourselves to them; then shall the anger of the LORD be kindled against you, and ye shall perish quickly from off the good land which he hath given unto you.
Wanneer julle die verbond van die HERE julle God oortree, wat Hy julle beveel het, en heengaan en ander gode dien, en julle voor hulle neerbuig; dan sal die toorn van die HERE teen julle aangesteek word, en julle moet spoedig vergaan uit die goeie land wat Hy julle gegee het.
