At that time Jesus went on the sabbath day through the corn; and his disciples were an hungred, and began to pluck the ears of corn, and to eat.
In daardie tyd het Jesus op die sabbat deur die koringlande gegaan; en sy dissipels was honger, en het begin om are te pluk, en te eet.

But when the Pharisees saw [it], they said unto him, Behold, thy disciples do that which is not lawful to do upon the sabbath day.
Maar toe die Fariseërs dit sien, het hulle tot Hom gesê, Kyk, u dissipels doen wat nie geoorloof is om op die sabbat te doen nie.

But he said unto them, Have ye not read what David did, when he was an hungred, and they that were with him;
Maar Hy het tot hulle gesê, Het julle nie gelees wat Dawid gedoen het, toe hy honger was, en dié wat by hom was nie;

How he entered into the house of God, and did eat the shewbread, which was not lawful for him to eat, neither for them which were with him, but only for the priests?
Hoe hy in die huis van God ingegaan het, en die toonbrode geëet het, wat nie vir hom geoorloof was om te eet nie, en ook nie vir dié wat by hom was nie, maar net vir die priesters alleen?

Or have ye not read in the law, how that on the sabbath days the priests in the temple profane the sabbath, and are blameless?
Of het julle nie in die wet gelees, hoe dat die priesters op die sabbat in die tempel die sabbat ontheilig, en onskuldig is nie?

But I say unto you, That in this place is [one] greater than the temple.
Maar ek sê vir julle, Dat hier een is wat groter is as die tempel.
7
But if ye had known what [this] meaneth, I will have mercy, and not sacrifice, ye would not have condemned the guiltless.
Maar as julle geweet het wat dit beteken, Ek wil barmhartigheid hê, en nie offer nie, sou julle die onskuldiges nie veroordeel het nie.

For the Son of man is Lord even of the sabbath day.
Want die Seun van die mens is Here selfs van die sabbat.

And when he was departed thence, he went into their synagogue:
En toe Hy daarvandaan vertrek het, het Hy in hulle sinagoge gegaan:

And, behold, there was a man which had [his] hand withered. And they asked him, saying, Is it lawful to heal on the sabbath days? that they might accuse him.
En kyk, daar was ’n man wat ’n verdorde hand gehad het. En hulle het Hom gevra, sê, Is dit geoorloof om op die sabbat te genees? dat hulle Hom mag aankla.

And he said unto them, What man shall there be among you, that shall have one sheep, and if it fall into a pit on the sabbath day, will he not lay hold on it, and lift [it] out?
En Hy het tot hulle gesê, Watter mens is daar onder julle, wat een skaap het, en as dit op die sabbat in ’n put val, sal hy dit nie gryp, en dit uittrek nie?

How much then is a man better than a sheep? Wherefore it is lawful to do well on the sabbath days.
Hoeveel te meer is ‚'n mens dan ‚'n skaap werd? Daarom is dit geoorloof om op die sabbat goed te doen.

Then saith he to the man, Stretch forth thine hand. And he stretched [it] forth; and it was restored whole, like as the other.
Toe het Hy tot die man gesê, Steek jou hand uit. En hy het dit uitgesteek; en dit is herstel, gesond soos die ander.

Then the Pharisees went out, and held a council against him, how they might destroy him.
Toe het die Fariseërs uitgegaan, en ’n raad teen Hom gehou, hoe hulle Hom mag vernietig.
15
But when Jesus knew [it], he withdrew himself from thence: and great multitudes followed him, and he healed them all;
Maar toe Jesus dit weet, het Hy Hom daarvandaan onttrek: en groot skare het Hom gevolg, en Hy het hulle almal genees;
16
And charged them that they should not make him known:
En hulle beveel dat hulle Hom nie bekend moes maak nie:
17
That it might be fulfilled which was spoken by Esaias the prophet, saying,
Dat dit vervul mag word wat deur Jesaja die profeet gespreek is, sê,
18
Behold my servant, whom I have chosen; my beloved, in whom my soul is well pleased: I will put my spirit upon him, and he shall shew judgment to the Gentiles.
Kyk my dienaar, wat ek verkies het; my Geliefde, in wie my siel behae het: ek sal my Gees op Hom lê, en Hy sal oordeel aan die heidene verkondig.

He shall not strive, nor cry; neither shall any man hear his voice in the streets.
Hy sal nie twis, en ook nie uitroep nie; en niemand sal sy stem in die strate hoor nie.
20
A bruised reed shall he not break, and smoking flax shall he not quench, till he send forth judgment unto victory.
‚'n Geknakte riet sal Hy nie verbreek nie, en ‚'n rokende vlaspit sal Hy nie uitblus nie, totdat Hy die oordeel tot oorwinning uitstuur.

And in his name shall the Gentiles trust.
En in sy Naam sal die heidene hoop.

Then was brought unto him one possessed with a devil, blind, and dumb: and he healed him, insomuch that the blind and dumb both spake and saw.
Toe is ‚'n mens by Hom gebring wat van ‚'n duiwel besete was, blind en stom: en Hy het hom genees, sodat die blinde en stomme beide gespreek en gesien het.

And all the people were amazed, and said, Is not this the son of David?
En al die mense was verbaas, en het gesê, Is dit nie die seun van Dawid nie?
24
But when the Pharisees heard [it], they said, This [fellow] doth not cast out devils, but by Beelzebub the prince of the devils.
Maar toe die Fariseërs dit hoor, het hulle gesê, Hierdie man dryf die duiwels nie uit nie, as deur Béëlsebul die owerste van die duiwels.
25
And Jesus knew their thoughts, and said unto them, Every kingdom divided against itself is brought to desolation; and every city or house divided against itself shall not stand:
En Jesus het hulle gedagtes geken, en tot hulle gesê, Elke koninkryk wat teen homself verdeel is, word verwoes; en elke stad of huis wat teen homself verdeel is, sal nie standhou nie.

And if Satan cast out Satan, he is divided against himself; how shall then his kingdom stand?
En as die Satan die Satan uitdryf, is hy teen homself verdeel; hoe sal dan sy koninkryk standhou?
27
And if I by Beelzebub cast out devils, by whom do your children cast [them] out? therefore they shall be your judges.
En as ek deur Béëlsebul die duiwels uitdryf, deur wie dryf julle seuns hulle dan uit? daarom sal hulle julle regters wees.
28
But if I cast out devils by the Spirit of God, then the kingdom of God is come unto you.
Maar as ek die duiwels deur die Gees van God uitdryf, dan is die koninkryk van God tot by julle gekom.
29
Or else how can one enter into a strong man’s house, and spoil his goods, except he first bind the strong man? and then he will spoil his house.
Of hoe kan iemand in die huis van ‚'n sterk man ingaan, en sy goed roof, tensy hy eers die sterk man bind? en dan sal hy sy huis plunder.
30
He that is not with me is against me; and he that gathereth not with me scattereth abroad.
Hy wat nie met My is nie, is teen My; en hy wat nie met My bymekaarmaak nie, verstrooi.
31
Wherefore I say unto you, All manner of sin and blasphemy shall be forgiven unto men: but the blasphemy [against] the [Holy] Ghost shall not be forgiven unto men.
Daarom sê ek vir julle, Elke sonde en lastering sal die mense vergewe word: maar die lastering teen die Heilige Gees sal die mense nie vergewe word nie.
32
And whosoever speaketh a word against the Son of man, it shall be forgiven him: but whosoever speaketh against the Holy Ghost, it shall not be forgiven him, neither in this world, neither in the [world] to come.
En elkeen wat ’n woord spreek teen die Seun van die mens, dit sal hom vergewe word: maar elkeen wat teen die Heilige Gees spreek, dit sal hom nie vergewe word nie, nie in hierdie wêreld nie, en ook nie in die toekomende nie.

Either make the tree good, and his fruit good; or else make the tree corrupt, and his fruit corrupt: for the tree is known by [his] fruit.
Of maak die boom goed, en sy vrug goed; of maak die boom sleg, en sy vrug sleg: want die boom word aan die vrug geken.

O generation of vipers, how can ye, being evil, speak good things? for out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaketh.
o geslag van adders, hoe kan julle goeie dinge spreek, terwyl julle boos is? want uit die oorvloed van die hart spreek die mond.
35
A good man out of the good treasure of the heart bringeth forth good things: and an evil man out of the evil treasure bringeth forth evil things.
‚'n Goeie mens bring goeie dinge voort uit die goeie skat van die hart: en ‚'n boos mens bring boos dinge voort uit die boos skat.

But I say unto you, That every idle word that men shall speak, they shall give account thereof in the day of judgment.
Maar ek sê vir julle, Dat vir elke ydele woord wat die mense sal spreek, sal hulle rekenskap gee in die dag van oordeel.

For by thy words thou shalt be justified, and by thy words thou shalt be condemned.
Want deur jou woorde sal jy geregverdig word, en deur jou woorde sal jy veroordeel word.

Then certain of the scribes and of the Pharisees answered, saying, Master, we would see a sign from thee.
Toe het sekere van die skrifgeleerdes en van die Fariseërs geantwoord, sê, Meester, ons wil ’n teken van U sien.
39
But he answered and said unto them, An evil and adulterous generation seeketh after a sign; and there shall no sign be given to it, but the sign of the prophet Jonas:
Maar Hy het geantwoord en tot hulle gesê, ’n Boos en egbreukende geslag soek na ’n teken; en daar sal geen teken aan hom gegee word nie, behalwe die teken van die profeet Jona:

For as Jonas was three days and three nights in the whale’s belly; so shall the Son of man be three days and three nights in the heart of the earth.
Want soos Jona drie dae en drie nagte in die buik van die groot vis was; so sal die Seun van die mens drie dae en drie nagte in die hart van die aarde wees.
41
The men of Nineveh shall rise in judgment with this generation, and shall condemn it: because they repented at the preaching of Jonas; and, behold, a greater than Jonas [is] here.
Die manne van Ninevé sal opstaan in die oordeel met hierdie geslag, en sal dit veroordeel: omdat hulle hulle bekeer het by die prediking van Jona; en kyk, hier is een wat groter is as Jona.

The queen of the south shall rise up in the judgment with this generation, and shall condemn it: for she came from the uttermost parts of the earth to hear the wisdom of Solomon; and, behold, a greater than Solomon [is] here.
Die koningin van die suide sal opstaan in die oordeel met hierdie geslag, en sal dit veroordeel: want sy het van die eindes van die aarde gekom om die wysheid van Salomo te hoor; en kyk, hier is een wat groter is as Salomo.

When the unclean spirit is gone out of a man, he walketh through dry places, seeking rest, and findeth none.
Wanneer die onreine gees van die mens uitgegaan het, wandel hy deur droë plekke, en soek rus, en vind dit nie.
44
Then he saith, I will return into my house from whence I came out; and when he is come, he findeth [it] empty, swept, and garnished.
Toe sê hy, Ek sal terugkeer in my huis vanwaar ek uitgegaan het; en wanneer hy kom, vind hy dit leeg, skoongevee, en versier.
45
Then goeth he, and taketh with himself seven other spirits more wicked than himself, and they enter in and dwell there: and the last [state] of that man is worse than the first. Even so shall it be also unto this wicked generation.
Dan gaan hy, en neem met hom sewe ander geeste, erger as homself, en hulle gaan in en woon daar: en die laaste toestand van daardie mens is erger as die eerste. So sal dit ook wees met hierdie boos geslag.

While he yet talked to the people, behold, [his] mother and his brethren stood without, desiring to speak with him.
Terwyl Hy nog met die skare gespreek het, kyk, sy moeder en sy broers het buite gestaan, en begeer om met Hom te spreek.
47
Then one said unto him, Behold, thy mother and thy brethren stand without, desiring to speak with thee.
Toe het een tot Hom gesê, Kyk, u moeder en u broers staan buite, en begeer om met U te spreek.
48
But he answered and said unto him that told him, Who is my mother? and who are my brethren?
Maar Hy het geantwoord en tot hom gesê wat dit aan Hom gesê het, Wie is my moeder? en wie is my broers?
49
And he stretched forth his hand toward his disciples, and said, Behold my mother and my brethren!
En Hy het sy hand uitgestrek na sy dissipels, en gesê, Kyk my moeder en my broers!
50
For whosoever shall do the will of my Father which is in heaven, the same is my brother, and sister, and mother.
Want elkeen wat die wil doen van my Vader wat in die hemele is, dieselfde is my broer, en suster, en moeder.
