For the kingdom of heaven is like unto a man [that is] an householder, which went out early in the morning to hire labourers into his vineyard.
Want die koninkryk van die hemele is soos ’n huiseienaar, wat vroeg in die môre uitgegaan het om arbeiders vir sy wingerd te huur.

And when he had agreed with the labourers for a penny a day, he sent them into his vineyard.
En toe hy met die arbeiders ooreengekom het vir ‚'n pennie per dag, het hy hulle in sy wingerd gestuur.

And he went out about the third hour, and saw others standing idle in the marketplace,
En hy het uitgegaan omtrent die derde uur, en ander sien stilstaan op die mark,

And said unto them; Go ye also into the vineyard, and whatsoever is right I will give you. And they went their way.
En tot hulle gesê, Gaan julle ook in die wingerd, en wat reg is, sal ek julle gee. En hulle het gegaan.

Again he went out about the sixth and ninth hour, and did likewise.
Weer het hy uitgegaan omtrent die sesde en negende uur, en dieselfde gedoen.

And about the eleventh hour he went out, and found others standing idle, and saith unto them, Why stand ye here all the day idle?
En omtrent die elfde uur het hy uitgegaan, en ander sien stilstaan, en tot hulle gesê, Waarom staan julle hier die hele dag ledig?

They say unto him, Because no man hath hired us. He saith unto them, Go ye also into the vineyard; and whatsoever is right, [that] shall ye receive.
Hulle het tot hom gesê, Omdat niemand ons gehuur het nie. Hy het tot hulle gesê, Gaan julle ook in die wingerd; en wat reg is, sal julle ontvang.

So when even was come, the lord of the vineyard saith unto his steward, Call the labourers, and give them [their] hire, beginning from the last unto the first.
So toe die aand gekom het, het die heer van die wingerd tot sy rentmeester gesê, Roep die arbeiders, en gee hulle hulle loon, begin van die laastes tot die eerstes.

And when they came that [were hired] about the eleventh hour, they received every man a penny.
En toe hulle gekom het wat omtrent die elfde uur gehuur is, het hulle elkeen ‚'n pennie ontvang.
10
But when the first came, they supposed that they should have received more; and they likewise received every man a penny.
Maar toe die eerstes gekom het, het hulle gemeen dat hulle meer sou ontvang; en hulle het ook elkeen ‚'n pennie ontvang.

And when they had received [it], they murmured against the goodman of the house,
En toe hulle dit ontvang het, het hulle teen die huiseienaar gemurmureer,
12
Saying, These last have wrought [but] one hour, and thou hast made them equal unto us, which have borne the burden and heat of the day.
Sê, Hierdie laastes het net een uur gewerk, en jy het hulle gelyk gemaak aan ons, wat die las en hitte van die dag gedra het.
13
But he answered one of them, and said, Friend, I do thee no wrong: didst not thou agree with me for a penny?
Maar hy het geantwoord en tot een van hulle gesê, Vriend, ek doen jou geen onreg nie: het jy nie met my ooreengekom vir ’n pennie nie?
14
Take [that] thine [is], and go thy way: I will give unto this last, even as unto thee.
Neem wat joune is, en gaan jou weg: ek wil aan hierdie laaste dieselfde gee as aan jou.
15
Is it not lawful for me to do what I will with mine own? Is thine eye evil, because I am good?
Is dit nie geoorloof vir my om te doen wat ek wil met my eie nie? Is jou oog boos, omdat ek goed is?
16
So the last shall be first, and the first last: for many be called, but few chosen.
So sal die laastes die eerstes wees, en die eerstes die laastes: want baie is geroep, maar min is uitverkies.

And Jesus going up to Jerusalem took the twelve disciples apart in the way, and said unto them,
En Jesus, op pad na Jérusalem, het die twaalf dissipels apart geneem op die pad, en tot hulle gesê,
18
Behold, we go up to Jerusalem; and the Son of man shall be betrayed unto the chief priests and unto the scribes, and they shall condemn him to death,
Kyk, ons gaan op na Jérusalem; en die Seun van die mens sal oorgelewer word aan die owerpriesters en aan die skrifgeleerdes, en hulle sal Hom tot die dood veroordeel,

And shall deliver him to the Gentiles to mock, and to scourge, and to crucify [him]: and the third day he shall rise again.
En sal Hom oorgee aan die heidene om te bespot, en te gesels, en te kruisig: en die derde dag sal Hy opgewek word.

Then came to him the mother of Zebedee’s children with her sons, worshipping [him], and desiring a certain thing of him.
Toe het die moeder van Sebedéüs se seuns by Hom gekom met haar seuns, Hom aanbid, en iets van Hom begeer.
21
And he said unto her, What wilt thou? She saith unto him, Grant that these my two sons may sit, the one on thy right hand, and the other on the left, in thy kingdom.
En Hy het tot haar gesê, Wat wil jy hê? Sy het tot Hom gesê, Gee dat hierdie twee seuns van my mag sit, die een aan u regterhand, en die ander aan die linkerhand, in u koninkryk.

But Jesus answered and said, Ye know not what ye ask. Are ye able to drink of the cup that I shall drink of, and to be baptized with the baptism that I am baptized with? They say unto him, We are able.
Maar Jesus het geantwoord en gesê, Julle weet nie wat julle vra nie. Kan julle die beker drink wat ek sal drink, en met die doop gedoop word waarmee ek gedoop word? Hulle het tot Hom gesê, Ons kan.

And he saith unto them, Ye shall drink indeed of my cup, and be baptized with the baptism that I am baptized with: but to sit on my right hand, and on my left, is not mine to give, but [it shall be given to them] for whom it is prepared of my Father.
En Hy het tot hulle gesê, Julle sal inderdaad van my beker drink, en met die doop gedoop word waarmee ek gedoop word: maar om te sit aan my regterhand, en aan my linkerhand, is nie myne om te gee nie, maar dit sal gegee word aan dié vir wie dit berei is deur my Vader.

And when the ten heard [it], they were moved with indignation against the two brethren.
En toe die tien dit gehoor het, was hulle verontwaardig oor die twee broers.
25
But Jesus called them [unto him], and said, Ye know that the princes of the Gentiles exercise dominion over them, and they that are great exercise authority upon them.
Maar Jesus het hulle by Hom geroep, en gesê, Julle weet dat die vorste van die heidene heerskappy oor hulle voer, en dié wat groot is, oefen gesag oor hulle uit.

But it shall not be so among you: but whosoever will be great among you, let him be your minister;
Maar so sal dit nie onder julle wees nie: maar elkeen wat onder julle groot wil word, laat hom julle dienaar wees;
27
And whosoever will be chief among you, let him be your servant:
En elkeen wat die eerste onder julle wil wees, laat hom julle dienskneg wees:
28
Even as the Son of man came not to be ministered unto, but to minister, and to give his life a ransom for many.
Net soos die Seun van die mens nie gekom het om gedien te word nie, maar om te dien, en om sy lewe te gee as ‚'n losprys vir baie.

And as they departed from Jericho, a great multitude followed him.
En toe hulle van Jérigo uitgetrek het, het ’n groot skare Hom gevolg.

And, behold, two blind men sitting by the way side, when they heard that Jesus passed by, cried out, saying, Have mercy on us, O Lord, [thou] Son of David.
En kyk, twee blindes, wat by die pad gesit het, toe hulle hoor dat Jesus verbygaan, het uitgeroep, sê, Wees ons barmhartig, o Here, U Seun van Dawid.

And the multitude rebuked them, because they should hold their peace: but they cried the more, saying, Have mercy on us, O Lord, [thou] Son of David.
En die skare het hulle bestraf, dat hulle stil moes bly: maar hulle het des te meer uitgeroep, sê, Wees ons barmhartig, o Here, U Seun van Dawid.

And Jesus stood still, and called them, and said, What will ye that I shall do unto you?
En Jesus het stilgestaan, en hulle geroep, en gesê, Wat wil julle hê dat ek vir julle moet doen?
33
They say unto him, Lord, that our eyes may be opened.
Hulle het tot Hom gesê, Here, dat ons oë oopgemaak word.

So Jesus had compassion [on them], and touched their eyes: and immediately their eyes received sight, and they followed him.
So is Jesus met ontferming bewoë, en het hulle oë aangeraak: en dadelik het hulle oë die sig ontvang, en hulle het Hom gevolg.
