And I said, Hear, I pray you, O heads of Jacob, and ye princes of the house of Israel; [Is it] not for you to know judgment?
En ek het gesê, Hoor, ek bid julle, o hoofde van Jakob, en julle vorstes van die huis van Israel; Is dit nie vir julle om oordeel te ken nie?

Who hate the good, and love the evil; who pluck off their skin from off them, and their flesh from off their bones;
Wat die goeie haat, en die boos liefhet; wat hulle vel van hulle afstroop, en hulle vlees van hulle bene af;
3
Who also eat the flesh of my people, and flay their skin from off them; and they break their bones, and chop them in pieces, as for the pot, and as flesh within the caldron.
Wat ook die vlees van my volk eet, en hulle vel van hulle afstroop; en hulle bene stukkend breek, en dit in stukke kap soos vir die pot, en soos vlees binne-in die ketel.

Then shall they cry unto the LORD, but he will not hear them: he will even hide his face from them at that time, as they have behaved themselves ill in their doings.
Toe sal hulle tot die HERE roep, maar Hy sal hulle nie verhoor nie: Hy sal selfs sy aangesig van hulle in daardie tyd verberg, soos hulle hulleself sleg in hulle doenings gedra het.

Thus saith the LORD concerning the prophets that make my people err, that bite with their teeth, and cry, Peace; and he that putteth not into their mouths, they even prepare war against him.
So sê die HERE aangaande die profete wat my volk laat dwaal, wat met hulle tande byt, en uitroep, Vrede; en hy wat niks in hulle monde sit nie, teen hom berei hulle oorlog.

Therefore night [shall be] unto you, that ye shall not have a vision; and it shall be dark unto you, that ye shall not divine; and the sun shall go down over the prophets, and the day shall be dark over them.
Daarom sal die nag vir julle wees, dat julle nie ’n visioen sal hê nie; en dit sal donker wees vir julle, dat julle nie waarneem nie; en die son sal oor die profete ondergaan, en die dag sal oor hulle swart word.

Then shall the seers be ashamed, and the diviners confounded: yea, they shall all cover their lips; for [there is] no answer of God.
Toe sal die sieners beskaamd word, en die waarsêers verleë wees: ja, hulle sal almal hulle lippe bedek; want daar is geen antwoord van God nie.

But truly I am full of power by the spirit of the LORD, and of judgment, and of might, to declare unto Jacob his transgression, and to Israel his sin.
Maar waarlik ek is vol van krag deur die Gees van die HERE, en van oordeel, en van mag, om aan Jakob sy oortreding, en aan Israel sy sonde, te verklaar.

Hear this, I pray you, ye heads of the house of Jacob, and princes of the house of Israel, that abhor judgment, and pervert all equity.
Hoor dit, ek bid julle, julle hoofde van die huis van Jakob, en vorstes van die huis van Israel, wat oordeel verafsku, en alle regverdige dinge verdraai.

They build up Zion with blood, and Jerusalem with iniquity.
Hulle bou Sion met bloed, en Jérusalem met ongeregtigheid.
11
The heads thereof judge for reward, and the priests thereof teach for hire, and the prophets thereof divine for money: yet will they lean upon the LORD, and say, [Is] not the LORD among us? none evil can come upon us.
Die hoofde daarvan oordeel vir beloning, en die priesters daarvan onderrig vir huur, en die profete daarvan waarneem vir geld: tog sal hulle op die HERE steun, en sê, Is die HERE nie onder ons nie? geen kwaad kan oor ons kom nie.

Therefore shall Zion for your sake be plowed [as] a field, and Jerusalem shall become heaps, and the mountain of the house as the high places of the forest.
Daarom sal Sion om julle ontwil soos ’n veld geploeg word, en Jérusalem sal hope word, en die berg van die huis soos die hoë plekke van die woud.
