Before the mountains were brought forth, or ever thou hadst formed the earth and the world, even from everlasting to everlasting, thou [art] God.
Voordat die berge voortgebring is, of U ooit die aarde en die wêreld geformeer het, selfs van ewigheid tot ewigheid, is U God.

Thou turnest man to destruction; and sayest, Return, ye children of men.
U bring die mens tot vernietiging; en sê, Keer terug, julle kinders van die mens.
4
For a thousand years in thy sight [are but] as yesterday when it is past, and [as] a watch in the night.
Want ’n duisend jaar in u oë is soos gister wanneer dit verby is, en soos ’n nagwag.

Thou carriest them away as with a flood; they are [as] a sleep: in the morning [they are] like grass [which] groweth up.
U voer hulle weg soos met ’n vloed; hulle is soos ’n slaap: in die môre is hulle soos gras wat groei.

In the morning it flourisheth, and groweth up; in the evening it is cut down, and withereth.
In die môre floreer dit, en groei op; in die aand word dit afgesny, en verdor.

For we are consumed by thine anger, and by thy wrath are we troubled.
Want ons is verteer deur u toorn, en deur u toorn is ons ontsteld.

Thou hast set our iniquities before thee, our secret [sins] in the light of thy countenance.
U het ons ongeregtighede voor U gestel, ons geheime sondes in die lig van u aangesig.
9
For all our days are passed away in thy wrath: we spend our years as a tale [that is told].
Want al ons dae is verbygegaan in u toorn: ons bring ons jare tot ‚'n end soos ‚'n verhaal.
10
The days of our years [are] threescore years and ten; and if by reason of strength [they be] fourscore years, yet [is] their strength labour and sorrow; for it is soon cut off, and we fly away.
Die dae van ons jare is sewentig jaar; en as deur krag hulle tagtig jaar is, tog is hulle sterkte arbeid en smart; want dit word gou afgesny, en ons vlieg weg.

Who knoweth the power of thine anger? even according to thy fear, [so is] thy wrath.
Wie ken die mag van u toorn? selfs volgens u vrees, so is u toorn.

So teach [us] to number our days, that we may apply [our] hearts unto wisdom.
Leer ons so ons dae te tel, dat ons ‚'n hart van wysheid mag toepas.
13
Return, O LORD, how long? and let it repent thee concerning thy servants.
Keer terug, o HERE, hoe lank? en laat dit U berou aangaande u dienaars.
14
O satisfy us early with thy mercy; that we may rejoice and be glad all our days.
O versadig ons vroeg met u barmhartigheid; dat ons juig en vrolik mag wees al ons dae.
15
Make us glad according to the days [wherein] thou hast afflicted us, [and] the years [wherein] we have seen evil.
Maak ons vrolik volgens die dae waarin U ons verdruk het, en die jare waarin ons die kwaad gesien het.
16
Let thy work appear unto thy servants, and thy glory unto their children.
Laat u werk aan u dienaars verskyn, en u heerlikheid aan hulle kinders.
17
And let the beauty of the LORD our God be upon us: and establish thou the work of our hands upon us; yea, the work of our hands establish thou it.
En laat die skoonheid van die HERE onse God op ons wees: en vestig U die werk van ons hande op ons; ja, die werk van ons hande, vestig U dit.
