Him that is weak in the faith receive ye, [but] not to doubtful disputations.

Hom wat swak is in die geloof, ontvang, maar nie tot twisagtige gesprekke nie.

2

For one believeth that he may eat all things: another, who is weak, eateth herbs.

Want een glo dat hy alles mag eet: ‚'n ander, wat swak is, eet groente.

Let not him that eateth despise him that eateth not; and let not him which eateth not judge him that eateth: for God hath received him.

Laat hom wat eet nie hom verag wat nie eet nie; en laat hom wat nie eet nie nie hom oordeel wat eet nie: want God het hom ontvang.

4

Who art thou that judgest another man’s servant? to his own master he standeth or falleth. Yea, he shall be holden up: for God is able to make him stand.

Wie is jy wat ‚'n ander se dienskneg oordeel? tot sy eie heer staan of val hy. Ja, hy sal staande gehou word: want God is in staat om hom staande te hou.

One man esteemeth one day above another: another esteemeth every day [alike]. Let every man be fully persuaded in his own mind.

Een man ag een dag bo ‚'n ander: ‚'n ander ag elke dag gelyk. Laat elkeen in sy eie gemoed ten volle oortuig wees.

He that regardeth the day, regardeth [it] unto the Lord; and he that regardeth not the day, to the Lord he doth not regard [it]. He that eateth, eateth to the Lord, for he giveth God thanks; and he that eateth not, to the Lord he eateth not, and giveth God thanks.

Hy wat die dag ag, ag dit tot die Here; en hy wat die dag nie ag nie, ag dit nie tot die Here nie. Hy wat eet, eet tot die Here, want hy dank God; en hy wat nie eet nie, eet nie tot die Here nie, en dank God.

For none of us liveth to himself, and no man dieth to himself.

Want niemand van ons lewe vir homself nie, en niemand sterwe vir homself nie.

8

For whether we live, we live unto the Lord; and whether we die, we die unto the Lord: whether we live therefore, or die, we are the Lord’s.

Want of ons lewe, ons lewe tot die Here; of ons sterwe, ons sterwe tot die Here: of ons daarom lewe of sterwe, ons is die Here s‚'n.

For to this end Christ both died, and rose, and revived, that he might be Lord both of the dead and living.

Want tot hierdie einde het Christus beide gesterwe, en opgestaan, en weer lewend geword, dat Hy Here sou wees beide van die dooies en lewendes.

10

But why dost thou judge thy brother? or why dost thou set at nought thy brother? for we shall all stand before the judgment seat of Christ.

Maar waarom oordeel jy jou broer? of waarom verag jy jou broer? want ons sal almal voor die regstoel van Christus staan.

For it is written, [As] I live, saith the Lord, every knee shall bow to me, and every tongue shall confess to God.

Want daar is geskrywe, So waaragtig as ek lewe, sê die Here, sal elke knie voor My buig, en elke tong sal tot God bely.

12

So then every one of us shall give account of himself to God.

So sal elkeen van ons dan vir homself aan God rekenskap gee.

13

Let us not therefore judge one another any more: but judge this rather, that no man put a stumblingblock or an occasion to fall in [his] brother’s way.

Laat ons daarom mekaar nie meer oordeel nie: maar oordeel eerder dit, dat niemand ‚'n struikelblok of ‚'n aanstoot voor sy broer sit nie.

14

I know, and am persuaded by the Lord Jesus, that [there is] nothing unclean of itself: but to him that esteemeth any thing to be unclean, to him [it is] unclean.

Ek weet, en is oortuig deur die Here Jesus, dat daar niks op sigself onrein is nie: maar vir hom wat iets as onrein ag, vir hom is dit onrein.

15

But if thy brother be grieved with [thy] meat, now walkest thou not charitably. Destroy not him with thy meat, for whom Christ died.

Maar as jou broer bedroef word deur jou voedsel, wandel jy nie meer volgens die liefde nie. Vernietig hom nie met jou voedsel, vir wie Christus gesterwe het nie.

Let not then your good be evil spoken of:

Laat dan nie julle goeie as kwaad gespreek word nie:

17

For the kingdom of God is not meat and drink; but righteousness, and peace, and joy in the Holy Ghost.

Want die koninkryk van God is nie eet en drink nie; maar geregtigheid, en vrede, en blydskap in die Heilige Gees.

18

For he that in these things serveth Christ [is] acceptable to God, and approved of men.

Want hy wat in hierdie dinge Christus dien, is welgevallig by God, en aangenaam by die mense.

19

Let us therefore follow after the things which make for peace, and things wherewith one may edify another.

Laat ons daarom die dinge najag wat tot vrede dien, en dinge waarmee die een die ander mag opbou.

20

For meat destroy not the work of God. All things indeed [are] pure; but [it is] evil for that man who eateth with offence.

Vernietig nie die werk van God om die voedsel ontwil nie. Alle dinge is wel rein; maar dit is kwaad vir die mens wat met aanstoot eet.

21

[It is] good neither to eat flesh, nor to drink wine, nor [any thing] whereby thy brother stumbleth, or is offended, or is made weak.

Dit is goed om nie vleis te eet, of wyn te drink, of enigiets waardeur jou broer struikel, of aanstoot neem, of swak gemaak word nie.

22

Hast thou faith? have [it] to thyself before God. Happy [is] he that condemneth not himself in that thing which he alloweth.

Het jy geloof? hou dit by jouself voor God. Gelukkig is hy wat homself nie veroordeel in dit wat hy goedkeur nie.

23

And he that doubteth is damned if he eat, because [he eateth] not of faith: for whatsoever [is] not of faith is sin.

En hy wat twyfel is veroordeel as hy eet, omdat dit nie uit die geloof is nie: want alles wat nie uit die geloof is nie, is sonde.
